Katy Katy Katy. Thank you very much for that it was full of positivity and help. We were out between 5 and 19 July and loved it. Obviously the getting there on public transport was a worry, but once there it was much better than UK. We don't at the moment know anyone so socialising is just the tw...

...o of us. We don't smoke, don't have any issues don't kiss the waiting staff and don't lick the plates. We are young retirees and don't really do anything in Spain that we dont do at home.  Disco is a thing of the past for us, a quiet bar and meal for two is now perfect. Our worry was the apparent worsening in Spain caused by the youngsters like in the UK though Spain seems to be going down hill much quicker.

Was concerned Spain would close the borders and having to quarantine both sides. We are planning a 7 week stay though suppose could swap the return flight if necessary, though it could go to 3 times the price over night! We are still planning on coming but planning work is  difficult as the situation is changing daily. Never mind that though just thanks for the help 👍😷🤞

Juanida thanks to you too. This has been an interesting feed. Must do it again. Keep updating please👍

I posted earlier in this thread, you have some negative comments, but from someone who has been in Mojacar since 2001, as long as you abide by the rules, you will not have a problem, I have been here throughout the lockdown and always felt perfectly safe. Some people get a little paranoid about this virus, but I always like to be positive, obey the rules and you will both enjoy your stay.

I think we have decided to definitely travel now barring a total lockdown and border closure. It's clear from the thread some people are wondering if they should or shouldn't travel to the area and visit second homes .  In view of that we will update about our journey in, and the state of play at resort, as we find it.

if members haven't caught "Spain Speaks" on YouTube can I suggest you have a look. It's a really good daily update on the Spanish situation.

Take care everyone.

My wife and I are keen to return to Mojacar to visit our property but not at any cost. We have a flight booked for mid-September which is still on at the moment.  I take on board all of the aforementioned risks and at this moment in time, we are tempted to go. My main concern is if either of us falls ill, how much cover the EHIC would give us. We always travel with insurance but if Spain is still one of the countries that our Government advises against travel our travel insurance but be void. I know that repatriation would not be covered but would the system cover everything else?

EHIC would cover all medical requirements but not repatriation costs. We will travel in September with dog and car for 3 months stay. Looking forward to seeing friends, will isolate for 7 days on arrival , just to be fair to friends and neighbours.

I too am apprehensive about visiting Mojacar. I haven't been there since February 2020 and wondering whether to travel during October/November having dismissed August and September.

1. I have no fears of the cleanliness of restaurants/supermarkets/shops. I understand all are making excellent efforts to keep their establishment Covid free....

...

2. I have fears of the plonkers (a) Who refuse to wear face masks (b) Who don't observe all anti Covid recommendations (c) "Hard" Cases who hang their face masks on restaurant/bar parasols to dry (d) Who do not know how to wear and adjust face masks and keep touching everything they see in supermarkets/shops (e) Who think anti Covid rules do not apply to them (f) Who think they can throw their arms around you and kiss you on the cheek (g) Who use apartment complex swimming pools and do not clean after them (h) Situations in departure and arrival airports, cleanliness on transfer services (i) assholes on transfer services and elsewhere who continuously pontificate their own safety over others instead of sharing their concerns.

3. Nobody can say at this stage that things won't improve or worsen in the area (although we're never short of "experts" on the matter).

4. It might cost a few bob extra to book flights later, but that's no big deal in the greater scheme of things. You can play Ryanair "roulette" and book and if you are prepared to kiss Adios to the few bob if you fail to travel then well and good.

I agree totally with Matthew..lots of hands touching lots of things..door handles ...key pads ..stair railings ect ect .. we carry hand sanitizer and use it all the time..so infuriating when you see people standing like sardines and kissing everyone..it only takes a few molecules to pass the virus on.. one must be hyper vigilant and always thinking ..remember the baggage handler and anyone who checks your tickets have also touched hundreds that day ..

I agree lots of people touch lots of things but if you've shopped in your local supermarket every man and his dog has touched the fruit and veg, the packaging, the tins, everything. The supermarket staff don't wear masks, neither do the butcher's, bakers and the candlestick makers. In that sense no country is better or worse. Are tables, glasses, bars, cleaned any better in the UK . No.

Be vigilant, be safe, but keep some reality and perspective about things. Wash your hands as much as possible, keep your distance, wear a mask, but live. The virus is spreading because of the young and ignorant in every country. The problem is they're continuing to infect, and kill the elderly and infirm. The Spanish cannot get a grip on that but neither can the British. We cannot hide from that.

No problems 👍 Worryingly from last night's feed Germany have put most areas of Spain on a quarantine list including Almeria 😷🤔. They are expecting 30,000 Germans to now rush home especially from the Balearics.
