Hi All (even those who can't stand me)

I started learning Spanish about 20 years ago (through my own method as per many posts on this forum). I'm pretty good at the spoken word and can hold a decent conversation with any Spanish national eg on Sport, Politics etc.

My written Spanish is not great (but passable). 

On a fleeting visit to Mojacar some weeks ago along with our camper van where we parked on Mojacar Playa. I exchanged English lessons with a rather austere Spanish lady who spoke Spanish like she had a gattling gun in her mouth shooting forth worse than bullets. She's originally from Vera. The deal was one-for-one lesson and I noticed her English was improving at a rate much  faster than my Spanish. I must admit my Spanish improved immensely though - no question about that.

We've returned to RoI since and although I can understand the slow speaking female DJ's on Radio Clásica during late night programmes I can't understand a full sentence on RNE 1 (mainly 24 hours news) spoken faster and louder than Concorde. Since returning to Waterford I devote at least an hour per day to improving my Spanish grammar (another area where I was found wanting). 

I can nearly hear Airtaine, Devo or Dario asking:- Hey Matt, where is all this going? - I'm beyond Beginners Spanish and probably ahead of most Improvers but, will I ever see the day when I can understand the loud and hard Spanish "comin'atcha" on Spanish News Radio Channels or even fast talking middle aged women from Vera?

You may answer in Spanish or English or Irish, but your opinion will be appreciated by me.

I need to exchange my UK driving licence for a spanish once. Does anyone have experience of this procedure? Also where I can get the required medical in mojacar or close by.

Recently we saw an advert on Idealista for a duplex for rent in Vera Playa right on the beach for ridiculously cheap. We happened to live round the corner and confirmed it wasn't for rent. The name on the advert was a man and he gave me "his nieces" email [email protected], I did message as we already guessed the response and that was "due to lots of interest if we paid deposit now through Air bnb it would be ours" we reported to Idealista and it was taken down. I have just seen a post on Reddit reporting the same scam with email [email protected] playing the same game in Torrox and Almunecar so please be aware of suspicious adverts, prices too good to be true with dodgy payment methods! And any email that starts with Lorena!! 

I purchased our 1st car here in June last year from a dealer. The road tax must be due to expire soon but I have not received a reminder or bill. I would be really grateful for advice about how the system works for residents of Mojacar. Thanks, in anticipation 

Morning, how much is diabetes medication in Spain please

My shower works off a gas boiler and when I put the hot on it comes through roasting hot, but when I feed in the cold it appears that the water pressure drops on the hot side and the boiler cuts out, is there and way to deal with this ? I have tried every setting I can think of but I now think I need some kind of electric pump to keep the pressure constant while I shower, and suggestions would be apprected
