I know this is probably known by most people but would like to warn other potential buyer of what happens when you deal with estate agents in Spain.

I have just found out that I have lost another property purchase, directly as a result of incompetence or deliberate deception by an agent in Albox.

I was in discussions with the agent regarding a bank property I wanted to buy. She notified me that there was one other offer that was lower than mine and she was 99.9% ( in her words) confident that the offer would not be accepted.

Today she told me that in fact a higher offer had been put in by her collegue that she knew nothing about. It would most likely be accepted by the bank. She claimed she knew nothing about the "deal" her collegue was doing.

I find this totally unacceptable that excuses like this are used to cover blatant and deliberate deception.This is a trick pulled by agents in spain. This is the FIFTEENTH property I have lost as a direct result of incompetent lying agents.

I was recommended to this agent by another agent in Murcia, who I spent a lot of time speaking to. I went to great lengths to explain how sick I was of being deceived by agents in Spain - She assured me I was just having a bad run, but now I am totally convinced that ALL estate agents in Spain will deceive and lie to buyers to get their hands on the commision. NONE of them can be trusted.

Anyone knows where we can buy a Repsol gas bottle (the red ones) in Sorbas municipality?. Agribiona and the gasdelivery van will not sell, only exchange. Need a spare.

Can ofcourse look outside of Sorbas once restrictions lifted.

We currently own two small apartments in the South of France which we are in the process of selling but Covid has  scuppered that at the moment, we also own a fairly large house in Ireland that we plan to sell. The main reason we are selling up in France is because of their Napoleonic inheritance laws where if one of us were to die, the properties would be inherited by your surviving spouse and all of your children and the French Government would tax them at a high rate resulting in the properties having to be sold to pay the taxes, in addition to that the cost of living is high in France.

We plan to downsize in Ireland, rent in Spain until we find an area/property we like and then purchase. I appreciate the views that we should not buy in Spain as we are now in our early 60's but my wife is adamant that we will buy so I don't want to open that discussion again.

Are there inheritance taxes to pay if you are non-resident and can the house be inherited solely by your partner?

I have no intention to seek residency in the future and hopefully we will both be Irish Passport holders and my wife already is

At last, after many problems, our move to Oria is going ahead this weekend. With Oria & Albox in Lockdown, where is the nearest Supermarket for me to do my shopping ?
