What has that got to do with what we were talking about   I’m not illegal , as far as i know, no one in the conversation is either.  I think that’s another thread where you copied and pasted your Pertinent post .  Yes threads do drift sometimes to very interesting conversations...

... but , imho , this is a gloating post. What does that say about you ?

I refer you to Page 3, the post by rt21 on Wed Mar 31, 2021 2:57pm, where he spoke about being annoyed by the exemptions for UK travellers to Spain being allowed to leave for the purpose of Renting / Letting / Buying / Viewing a house.

You seem to be fixated on people with residencia "gloating" or "being the elite".  I can't comment for everyone, but that really isn't the case.  People ask questions that can be triggered by something in the thread.  as can be seen, rt21 asked a question for which the article I found was very pertinent

Fair enough.  I was talking about the other one though

At the risk of being accused of not staying on point, I've caught sight of another thread that may give hope to those that own property here but don't quite qualify for NLV due to income.  Please see Non Lucrative Visa

It appears when considering "sufficient income", Spanish Consulates take into consideration properties owned as well

Dont really understand all this negative feeling surrounding Brexit.

Appears to come from people who live in Spain !

It appears to me that the ex pat's who lived in Spain illegally, but declared they were British citizens and paid British tax are the ones losing out the most ?

Anyone wanting to live in Spain legally from the UK, can still do so, provided they follow the new laws.

No, not really new laws, just the laws that were already applicable to Third Country Nations.

Yes, those wanting to live in Spain - and who have sufficient income - can do it, although unlike Freedom of Movement, being granted a visa to move to Spain is now far from guaranteed, even if you do meet the criteria.

It’s just that it’s become an order of magnitude more difficult to move across here now and has put it out of the reach of some who were planning to move here.  Not everyone can show 27.000€ a year income / savings (and 6.500 € per annum per dependent)

To get an idea of the difficulty now, there’s a thread called Non Lucrative Visa, and it is interesting reading just how much people are having to pay simply to apply for the Visa, that’s before they get to proving income. In some cases it’s upwards of £1200 for a couple, just to get documentation, have it translated and submitted.  That’s before proof of income and private medical insurance is taken into account. (Can’t use S1 as that no longer grants reciprocity of health care.  UK stopped that)

Contrast that with the “old” way under Freedom of Movement of arriving in country, say as a pensioner with an S1 and as the S1 granted reciprocity of health care, healthcare was taken care of.  All that was needed was to then show 5.800€ per annum income or 9.050€ savings.  If you used a Gestor, it cost you about 100€ for the help with the application and 12€ for the application itself.  It was a lot easier and may explain why some feel that Brexit has crushed their dream of retiring in Spain.

There may well be anti-Brexit feeling by those already here - but I’d suggest there’s likely far more from those wanting to move or retire here and finding they have a much much higher wall to climb.

Yes I live in the UK, and I want to live in Spain.

Reading the comments on here initially I thought it is not going to happen !

But after doing some research I realised that it is quite possible contrary to the extremely negative comments surrounding Spain and Brexit.

Yes it's going to cost more, Yes it is going to be more difficult, but what Spain is doing is exactly why the UK voted for Brexit.

To stop people coming into the country with no tangible assets and then becoming a burden on the State.

Except Spain already had a requirement for anyone desiring to reside here for more than 90 days to register, and prove they had sufficient means to support themselves, including health cover. If you couldn’t show that, you didn’t get Residencia.  Being a sovereign country they were able to do that.

You didn’t need Brexit to achieve that, just do what every other EU country was already doing. Require migrants to register and prove they had sufficient means to do so.
