I am in the same position as you but fortunately the 180 day rule will not really affect me as I do not spend that amount of time in Spain.

However, as you are probably aware Brexit will have other negative impacts on all of us who own holiday homes.

The one thing that does pee me off seeing the exemptions for the UK restrictions on travel to foreign countries. As far as I can see if you own a second home for personal use only then you cannot travel from the UK to attend to emergency issues. Yet if you let or rent the property out then you are allowed to travel for activities connected with the letting of that property. No wonder some have labelled this clause the Stanley Johnson exemption

As yet, no.  Whilst those exclusions allow travel FROM the UK, Spain is still only allowing Citizens, Residents or those with proven urgent familial need entry.

Sadly, we just want to cry.  Our retirement dreams all shattered.  After owning our holiday home for fifteen years.  Struggling through cancer, and various family tragedies our time was comeing.  Then Brexit happened.  I didn't vote for it.  I am a Conservative.  Though I don't know what darn difference that makes.  Please remember, the British people wanted a vote.  Cameron, sadly kept his manifesto pledge, and the rest is history.  I believe that if there had been a second vote, the outcome would likely have been different because more people would have bothered to vote.  The British in general seemed uninformed, and the older folk voted emotionally on immigration issues.

I fear for the housing market in Spain, as how many people will now be forced to sell up.  And how will the shops, bars, and restaurants cope without the winter British pounds spent.  Is anyone winning?

Thank you for sharing your story I am so sorry, after all you’ve been through, and looking forward to your retirement you were so let down too.  I agree, If there had been a second vote we wouldn’t be in this position.  Apart from being uninformed they were lied to big time as that video of Mr Gove clearly shows. I think people whose retirement plans have been dashed will sell up. Other nationalities will no doubt move in, one guy in Majorca I read said, he is looking forward to all the bargains when we go!  Can’t wait for us to go! Horrible things to say I thought . Maybe the restaurants will be seasonal after all, ghost towns comes to mind.

Please PLEASE read the full text - this is NOT across the board and applies to Business travel to UK only.  EU, EEA and Swiss visitors get ..... 90 days.

It’s really not the 90 days.  we don’t want MORE.   We want 180 days a year.   The choice to have 10 trips of 18 days whenever.   or two weeks here, three weeks there or 180 in one go.   What difference does it really make?  180 is still 180.   “ It’s Shengen rules NOT Spanish rules”.  There,  saved your typing finger 😎

Just saw this - thought maybe pertinent.  I make no comment, this posted for interests sake

British arrivals sent home from Alicante airport

Dozens of British passengers arriving at Alicante-Elche airport have been escorted back onto a plane and returned to the UK after being refused entry into Spain.

An easyJet flight from London Gatwick touched down on Friday but only Spanish nationals and officially resident passengers were allowed through passport control.

Despite having fulfilled criteria to leave the UK – where foreign travel currently remains illegal – they were escorted back onto the same airliner.

According to the Spanish government and confirmed by the British Embassy in Madrid, the people had jumped the gun and did not meet regulations to enter the country.

Full report in Costa Blanca News – in the shops on Thursday this week due to the Easter holidays

We are not discussing the fact that Spain is enforcing ANYTHING.  Stop with the doom n gloom Dario. Please.   Have a thought about your repetitive posts, so disheartening and if i may say boring now. You have made your point so many times. I actually saw this on the other thread.

YES, ITS SPANISH NATIONALS AND SPANISH RESIDENTS ALLOWED IN.  YOU ARE ONE OF THE ELITE,  WE GET IT.   “You make no comment “ omg that’s a change!    Please try and see your posts form someone else’s point of view

Unless you have appointed yourself moderator, "we" are discussing wherever this thread goes.  I will post - AND WILL CONTINUE TO POST, that information I think may be pertinent, relevant AND HELPFUL to others on this thread.

I will also continue to bust fairy stories that gets posted with as much factual information as I can muster so as others do not get misled.  If you see that as doom and gloom, that says more about you I think

Happy Easter / Blessed Eostre

I totally agree most people voted on the immigration issue and the government didn't fully informed the public of the consequences of leaving Europe I live in Kent we are now out of Europe and the immigration issue hasn't changed 4000 last year came in to the Kent coast over 300 boats in a small compound near where I live and it doesn't look like it's going to stop anytime soon I was also looking to buy  in Spain and will continue with that idea
