Just read through all 10 pages here .... I’ll start by saying I have a business, so yes, I very much have a vested interest.

With regards a future lockdown - not from central government as Pedro Sanchez has devolved authority to request state of alarm to the individual autonomous regions.

To that end, please stop blaming “the government” - authority to manage response is devolved now almost entirely to the individual regions.

I’m in Vera.  We had 9 infections here, all linked to a family group - all traced and managed.  I will be VERY happy when September rolls around and the madrileños all go home!

Now the contentious part - future outlook.  How to manage? as a business owner, I have to make the place safe for clients or I will shut down, so we observe all protocols regarding masks, etc - but also hot wash and disinfect the place every night; plus other more esoteric methods :-D

As a business owner, I want to encourage people in and there is definitely a prevailing sense of “I’ll return ‘when I feel comfortable’” ... this is a dangerous attitude because like influenza, SARS, HIRS etc etc this is not going away anytime soon; by waiting until “I feel comfortable” you risk becoming as I’ve said before, like our caveman ancestors who would not venture from their caves in fear the sky would fall upon their heads.

We have to take care, take proper precautions, minimize risk - but we can’t live for the foreseeable future in fear, because the fear becomes established and entrenched and all of a sudden we find our lives irrevocably changed as we become too scared to venture out of our caves.

We have to beat Covid-19, we WILL beat Covid-19 - but we have to live as well.

Goodness me, I agree with Dario, now theres a first.

Hi

I think that if you follow closely the news and information channels that infections are going up. And maybe in your region or place are just a few, you must think about the big picture.

Myself i would like to go and see my family spread over 3 countries. So no family bubble.

If i would go need to do al least 14 days of quarantine in one country. Do i take the risk to hold a family reunion in one place w people from 3 countries and a mother living in a home? I know that i am neither infected or asymptomatic. My gut-feeling says yes.

My logic says no! So i won't go this year, decision taken!

I think the chances of being checked up on UK are minimal. My friend whose a master mariner went into quarantine after returning to UK but no one has checked up on him at all I think BiJo and his cronies are just trying to scare people in complying....

Thanks again for that it's very helpful. I'm edging personally to cut the trip to 2 weeks. The real issue is that whilst the UK FCO rules out all but essential travel all travel insurance is void so that side of the risk is elevated. This leaves only the fall back is the EHIC system which is good...

... but doesn't cover all bases at all.🤔🤔😷

This is why we most likely won’t be back this year, we were stuck out there for 5 months March to August, which was fine we felt totally safe, but if that happens again you have got to remember the EHIC becomes invalid after 31 December. Personally not a risk I am willing to take.  Good luck on whatever decision you make.

Because all the flights (EasyJet) were cancelled, they were doing repatriation flights but were not advertising them, they were expensive and you had to travel to Madrid to get them, so we decided to stay put. It is not always simple.

My husband and I are here in Mojacar again after nine months.  We dithered for ages about whether to risk flying, Ryanair.  We really are so glad we did.

Flying experience was great at both airports, and onboard.  Car hire was slick for the first time ever.  Mojacar is wonderful.  Same friendly businesses and service, clean and appears very safe.

We are now booked in for more flights, hope to get back on with our lives, safely of course.  Maybe Mathew if you see people not observing rules, try gently educating.  In my experience it often works.  Let's get Mojacar, the place we all love get back on its feet.

Nice sentiment Sue, but when you are faced with a myriad of uncaring planks they don't care a whit about you or anybody else. Back in the day if you dared asked somebody not to smoke in a no smoking zone he/she usually looked at you like you were the devil incarnate. If there's one thing I've learned is that you should never be polite about your health.

1. I obey all the restrictions, they are clear, it's prudent, it's healthy and I expect everybody else to obey the restrictions too.

2. I notice some whinging here that they are not policed when they return to the UK during the two week isolation. There is much personal responsibility on the matter. The last thing we need is police physically calling to everybody. We are all adults, but only some of us choose to behave like one.

3. Before somebody points it out, it is nice to be nice.
