I have guests arriving at my holiday apartment today.  They are Spanish so should be aware of the need for masks, but what I need to know is do they need to wear masks when using the outside terrace and pool area?  I have taken the decision not to use these area myself during their stay...

... for safety reasons.  The apartment is below my main residence.  Any guidance would be great.

Regards

Jackie

Are your referring to your own private pool/area Or to a communal pool/garden ?  If private - No problem your on your own property not 'out & about' . If a communal pool you should by now have had instruction, advise on the protocol (rules) applicable. Contact The Presidente or the administrators who will advise. Be aware that a lot of municipal swimming pools are closed, as are a number of comunidad pools due to the almost impossible task - and expense -  of complying to the rules (mainly cleaning requirements and social distancing measures)

Thanks for the replies. The pool is private on my own ground so I think we are ok for guests not to wear masks. Most are family groups.

What if you cant wear one for health reasons?

You must carry a doctor's letter confirming this and be ready to show it on demand. If you are coming from the UK, your doctor's note should be translated into Spanish ( quite probably by a registered, approved translator) and to be absolutely sure I would get both the original and the translation ratified  ( ie. Stamped) but the town hall of where you are based.

Ok.....So what about when you are swimming in a public pool....the one on our complex has strict rules put up before we had to wear masks at all times! (Only 17 allowed in the pool and grass areas are marked for sitting within these areas only)...So will I have to swim with a ....very wet....mask on? There really needs more clarity about this!

A good question, but my understanding is that swimming falls under the definition of “exercising” so masks not necessary - similar to being on the beach; sitting on beach or swimming, masks not needed
