Go to the consulate site and they will know but I wouldn’t think you would need anything.   As you are just going home and you are allowed to travel the whole length of Spain to go home.  My friends just went from San Juan to France and the only place the police were checking was as f...

Thank you

Sorry do I need any paperwork to drive from ALmeria to Gibraltar as we are going to book flights to go from gib

The only paperwork you NEED are evidence of flights - boarding pass etc, evidence of residency - passport. I would add as a precaution car rental paperwork and letter from the FCO website from the consulate saying that you are a UK resident and are trying to get home as instructed by the Government. However, when we drove from Almeria to Gibraltar, we did not need to show any paperwork until the border at Gibraltar.

Thank you

I think also that as you are leaving  the country they are not fussed. A plane ticket would do.   Passport ,they would maybe want anyway .   You would only NEED to prove residency if you were coming into Spain.

Driving through France at the moment would be dodgy to say the least, and if your very nice Spanish friend were to get here how many of you would there be in the car going back? I think the new rules in Spain restrict the number of people allowed in a car, I would be inclined to convince your mother in law that the long and potentially dangerous ( re contagion) journey through France would be better postponed until things improve, I'm sure she wouldn't want to be the cause of any harm coming to any of you or your Spanish friend, good luck to you and please keep the forum posted on your progress.

Sorry Ray but it’s a different World since the OP posted that.  I don’t know what happened.  The info we were all giving at that time was so simple looking back.  Now it’s a minefield lol.    Maybe the op will tell us how they all got on
