The alternative of course would be to look at Portugal where the financial requirements are no where as near as onerous.

Hi i have set my heart on spain and i should be financially okay. I dont intend to work but with an EU passport if i change my mind i could do something to keep me busy nut i want to adopt 2 rescue dogs so no doubt they will keep me busy lol

Lucrative or not. Retired or not. The moment you reside +180 day in one year in spain (not equal to 6 months) you become/must become spanish resident. And that has for sure fiscal implications.

It’ll be a UK Passport - wouldn’t need an NLV otherwise Vera
