Copied from elsewhere.

I have been wearing a mask in stores (and limiting myshopping trips) since July.

I’m not sure how being considerate to others for the common good is now being mocked by some who are calling it “living in fear”, but it needs to stop....

When I wear a mask over my nose and mouth in public and in the stores/Supermarkets/Pharmacies/Offices - I want you to know the following:

🔵 I'm educated enough to know that I could be asymptomatic and still give you the virus.

🔵 No, I don't "live in fear" of the virus; I just want to be part of the solution, not the problem.

🔵 I don't feel like the "government controls me". I feel like I'm an adult contributing to the security in our society and I want to teach others the same.

🔵 If we could all live with the consideration of others in mind, the whole world would be a much better place.

🔵 Wearing a mask doesn't make me weak, scared, stupid or even "controlled". It makes me caring and responsible.

🔵 When you think about your appearance, discomfort, or other people's opinion of you, imagine a loved one - a child, father, mother, grandparent, aunt, uncle or even a stranger - placed on a ventilator, alone without you or any family member allowed at their bedside.....Ask yourself if you could have helped them a little by wearing a mask.

If you feel it is not necessary, or uncomfortable, or pointless to wear a mask, just think how more uncomfortable it may be later if you (or somebody else because of you) have to  to wear  a more fortified mask and other protective clothing in an intensive care unit of a hospital later while struggling for breath.

It costs nothing to be a responsible person.

So it's more the "not being fined" bit that has you wearing, ( seemingly grudgingly ) a mask rather than anything else ?, tell me, and everyone else how many other people only wear a mask to avoid being fined as opposed to public awareness and hygiene !!.

I wouldnt know, nor could I care  less why people do or dont wear it,isnt the fact that I do good enough for you? Who cares what the reason may or may not be...

Don't be so petty

This post that was quoted has been deleted.

Absolutely correct.  The mask isn’t there to really protect you from catching it, along with social distancing it’s there to help prevent others catching it from you.

Anti-maskers say “but I’m healthy, I don’t need a mask, no one will catch it from me” ... but if they are asymptomatic, how would they know?

The “virus deniers” who say “there’s no virus to catch”? .... well, there’s no cure for stupid, sadly

Not being petty, just responding to how you're message read. Personally both my partner and I have abided by the rules regarding masks as well as social distancing wherever possible since the inception of the lockdown last March, doing everything that we were required, one person in a car, one person doing shopping, I'm rather high risk having a range of pre existing conditions so it's been easier. Just why people rant about the imposition of masks when it's the least of the basic procedures to help in the containment of this awful disease is beyond us. But I'll concede that It's a personal choice and given the range of things and places wherein the rules can be misconstrued and/or misinterpreted it's understandable I suppose that confusion reigns. Here in Spain most everyone you see including all age ranges wear masks.

Hi

It pleases me to read that in general you all want to respect the rules obliged for wearing masks. Being active in the rental business i have for my safety, safety of my clients and there children being using masks, combined with a plastic proctective mask and using 70% alcohol for deinfection of keys when checking people in and out.

So i think i did my part, still do and will continue to do so.

For me everybody, from whatever country can come as long he or she respects rules and legislation. But some lone rangers, especially Belgian for the moment, think that they have the duly right to come although forbitten by their country.

In these days that kind of attitute can be missed.

I hope that due to that kind of behaviour never to be put in a position that my UCI bed is taken by such fools when needed.
