If anyone travels a lot from countries to the UK it may be best to get a UK passport as well. This way all the medication and injections are recorded.
You can't get a pet passport in the UK since Brexit.

Sorry I meant to add, Spanish Chips are registered in Spain and UK ones in the UK, its not possible for them to cross.
So does that mean I need to get another chip in Spain? (so they have 2?)

It looks like if you are going on holiday or using your 90 entry the medical EU CERTIFICATE should be OK and you get these from your vet.

Apparently not. I found the following:
You will now need an EU pet passport issued in a current EU country, or a UK-issued EU Animal Health Certificate.

I’m guessing that the UK Pet Passport is not the EU Animal Health Certificate. That sounds like something extra. And probably pricy.
It is... the local vets don't want the aggro as not worth their while due to the time factor and actively encouraged us to get the certificate from a centre. You can save money at a centre that specialise in the health checks and paperwork. I think when we looked it was about £180 (near to us) if I remember rightly and a bit of discount if you have more than one, think it was £150. It is therefore in your interest to try to get an EU passport if doing numerous trips.

No you dont need 2 chips, you wouldn't get thru the pets passport control in france when returning to Uk if you do. That would be too much for their french brains to cope with. If you have a Spanish Chip and pets passport then you are fine to come and go, except if your rabies jabs runs out whilst you are in the UK, because UK vets aren't allowed to write in EU passports anymore. If you have an UK petpassport and chip, then you will need a Uk health certificate (from your vets) every time you cross the channel.

The point of this post is being missed and has gone off on a tangent. Yes you can get an EU passport, but if your rabies jabs runs out whilst you are in the UK, the UK vet will not/can not by law register it in your EU passport.
The message I'm getting here is don't bring your pet animal from the UK to the EU and vice versa. I don't know if there will be additional complications bringing animal pets from Rep of Ireland and through the UK and onto the EU. I don't even know if there are problems just bringing your animal pet from RoI to the UK and back.
It appears the expense is relatively high and I think people must do some thinking before bringing their pet animals out of their home state.
I'm still unsure about the whole scenario. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

They have UK microchips... so we will have to get a health certificate on their first visit and then sort out a vet to get an EU passport when we are in Spain. Can the Spanish address be added to the UK chip? Obviously we will get new dog tags for Spain.

I take it you can get rabies jabs still in UK Jenni? Even though Vet can’t write it in EU Pet Passport, it will still appear on the UK issues EU Animal Health certificate.
I guess the best thing to do then is to get rabies jabs at a vets while in EU and have your EU pet passport updated that way if you are able.
HOWEVER - that doesn’t help all the other vaccinations etc needed - unless you consistently get them done whilst in EU as well.
