This statement below was shared to me from the UK, I am sharing it with this forum.I have been wearing a mask in stores (and limiting my trips) since March when this whole thing went down. I’m not sure how being considerate to others for the common good is now being mocked by some who are calling it “living in fear”, but it needs to stop.... When I wear a mask over my nose and mouth in public and in the stores/Supermarkets/Pharmacies/Offices - I want you to know the following:

I'm educated enough to know that I could be asymptomatic and still give you the virus.

No, I don't "live in fear" of the virus; I just want to be part of the solution, not the problem.

I don't feel like the "government controls me". I feel like I'm an adult contributing to the security in our society and I want to teach others the same.

If we could all live with the consideration of others in mind, the whole world would be a much better place.

Wearing a mask doesn't make me weak, scared, stupid or even "controlled". It makes me caring and responsible.

When you think about your appearance, discomfort, or other people's opinion of you, imagine a loved one - a child, father, mother, grandparent, aunt, uncle or even a stranger - placed on a ventilator, alone without you or any family member allowed at their bedside..... Ask yourself if you could have helped them a little by wearing a mask.

I copied and posted......Who else will do the same?

Thank you

Thank you for sharing Jenni. But, it's the caring people that read such posts - the uncaring cretins won't read this and even with the high number of deaths and infections they still don't give a whit.

Well said Jenni, but I fear Matthew may be right however we should continue following guidelines, wearing a mask etc. as responsible adults.

Well said, I agree 100 percent, when you get into your 70s and see people behaving as if it does not matter if they pass the virus on it does annoy me.  The way some are acting in the UK I am glad there is a quarantine when I go over at Christmas.  I feel so much safer here.

Bang on Jenni . We need to be responsible and mindful of others . As long as we are doing the right thing that’s all we can do . Just a tad of umbridge about this ,us and them thing with the quote ( the way some people are acting in the uk ) . Unfortunately it’s worldwide and I’ve seen it in mojacar when I was their for mid July to mid September. As Bigglesmentioned in an earlier post about the Lua on a Sunday afternoon. Take care and be safe folks .

Hi Shay,

Thank you for your posting, firstly I would point out I haven't 'suffered any abuse ' for sharing this thread. I am not a microbiologist, or any other kind of ologist, so this is just my opinion.

It seems to me that this thread isn;t stating anywhere that wearing a mask is 100% in stopping us getting the virus, it is saying that we have the right to choose to wear it, That we are not controlled, that we can decide for ourselves , and that we would like everyone to be as responsible as we are.

You are very blunt in telling us that the masks we are wearing are a waste of time, but you come up with no other alternative, At least wearing a mask stopping people coughing and sneezing over us and us them.

Can I ask you what type of face covering do you wear when you are out and about.

We are not saying the masks work only that even if it helps a little  it is better than doing nothing.  Personal to me, I feel safer if I see  people wearing masks, I feel as if they are trying to help, trying to protect others.  It is only my option but I feel that not wearing any other protection at all is very disrespectful.

Once again only my opinion as it makes me feel safer in this very bad time.

Thank you jenni for your helpful and thoughtful advise.  We are not here to frighten people only to care about one another.  Many people like myself are doing what they can so they do not get the virus and if i can help anyone along the way you only need to ask.
