I have just returned from the UK and flew with Ryanair. from Alicante to Newquay in Cornwall, the outward flight was normal. Coming back , as we were queuing to board the plane, the Spanish Aircrew, stood on the top steps and told everyone that unless they wore a mask they could not board, as I was the only one wearing a mask I was allowed to board the rest were left standing on the tarmac whilst the ground staff ran around trying to find everyone masks. We were not allowed to take the masks off during the flight. Finally once we all boarded. the air hostess announced that ' The Spanish Government had imposed a strike and therefore there would be no service or communication on that flight. and that if you had booked pre paid food you would be sent a voucher'. , we didn't see the cabin crew again until we landed, no information from the pilot. It was a very odd flight.
The other odd thing was that as we were sitting in the terminal a ground staff man came around to everyone and asked have you had all your Covid injections, and most people said yes and a few said no. and so he gave us a piece of paper that had clearly just been hurriedly printed on a computer that read Covid checked. Well thats a lie, cos even the few people that said No got this peice of paper to say they had been checked. None of us were asked for our certificate of proof.
Then when we landed at Alicante, there is now a row of people that you have to walk passed and they are picking people at random and checking their Covid certificates. and taking temperatures of everyone. One man was pulled aside, and taken off not sure what happen to him, didn't pass the test I guess.
2 weeks ago I flew back and forth to Edinburgh, non of the above was in place just a normal flight and no covid check at Alicante so something has changed in the last 2 weeks.
Not sure what it is all about, posting this so anyone flying to UK is forarmed.
