That wasn’t just pulled out of my backside - that came from a long and frank discussion I had with a friend who is also a very qualified Jungian Psychologist. It is I believe termed the Thanatos archetype.
Well I have years of experience as a social worker, and my experience is that people rally, people will become strong. I am surprised that a psychologist practising Jung, didn;t come up with a more positive view of the human psyche. Psychologists in my experience deal with people on a one to one basic usually, most of these people have problems hence the need for a psychologist. I on the other had dealt with people ages 10 - 51 years, from a broad spectrum of social backgrounds, that had things thrown at them that they didn't ask for or need. I think I have more experience in how people react to adverse conditions than your Jungian Psychologist. But if you feel the need to take one man's word as gospel then thats your prerogative.
