The real question is this: Can you predict the lottery!

Anyone fancy lightening the mood???? If you won 20 million this week, what would you do with it???

I wouldn;t spend a penny, I would put the whole lot in an off shore account with mega interest and then live off the interest. and with the interest I would make large donations to animal and homeless charities, and then set up some kind of charity for people really struggling, (mined you they would have to jump thru hoops to prove it)  and then I would live the high life.

What would you do?????

If I won the Euromillions Jackpot:-

1. I'd buy out this forum and sack the administrators.

2. I'd then gather all the chronic moaners who contribute to the forum and lock them in a dark warehouse without airconditioning. I'd hire about twenty capable Draculas to scare the livin' daylights out of them.

3. Then I'd move onto the facebook equivalent of this forum and hunt down the chronic moaning contributors there.

4. I'd contact the former inhabitants of Dale Farm (many of them Irish) and buy apartments for them in Mojacar right next door to each of the Panama Hat Brigade. How I wish . . . .

I take no issue with those that are leery of a jab from a new vaccine, I can understand their reservations.

I take issue with those who use this particular vaccine as a springboard to promote their own agenda and deliberately spread false and misleading information about vaccines in general.

(My favourite bit of nonsense though has to be that Bill Gates is going to use the vaccine to insert a nanochip in us all.  The breadth and depth of the utter tinfoil-hatted craziness in that bit of complete nonsense is absolutely breathtaking)

Jenni, you are of course perfectly entitled to continue wearing a mask - and I am sure many people will.  But at some point we have to work together to try and bring / show reassurance, and try restore some form of normality.  It's too easy for people to become afraid, for the fear to take hold, become pervasive.  Then "when things are better" slowly becomes an undefined and indeterminate time, used as a reason not to go out; and people continue to suffer.  Not just small businesses, restaurants, cafes, bars because people are just too afraid to now step outside their isolation bubbles, but the mental health of people.  If the fear continues to be reinforced, many more will feel a sense of hopelessness and the resultant depression may well lead to more unnecessary loss of life.

We MUST respect this virus, we must combat it, and take the right measures to combat it.  But we must NOT let it control us, take over our lives, force us into living in fear.  However you term it, whatever you choose to call the self-isolation, whatever colour you paint it, you. are. living. in. fear.

Not screaming, knee-shaking terror.  But a fear that your leaving the house may infect someone else, that you may pick up something and unknowingly carry it elsewhere and a thousand other instances of excuses not to leave your house or go to a restaurant or for a walk or ..or ... or ....

If we all wait "until it is better", there will be nothing left to have waited for.  And then we'll all complain that our favourite bars and restaurants and shops etc have closed down and it's all the governments fault.

But it won't be.  It'll be our fault for not respecting the virus, but instead letting unreasoning fear control us.

This will not be a popular opinion, I know I am going to take fire for daring suggest we all stop letting fear control us.  But before the keyboard warriors let loose their salvos, take time to read what I have written.  I am not suggesting there is no pandemic, I am not suggesting the measures we are taking are a form of government control, I am not suggesting we breach curfew, go on marches and demonstrations, demand and end to restrictions etc. etc.  All I am suggesting is that when curfew is lifted, when borders are opened, when we are once again allowed to move about, let us try and go about our daily lives as normally as possible within the framework of whatever restrictions still exist.

Respect the virus, take appropriate measures.
Don't let fear of it control you.

I so agree with you. I'm late 70's and classed as extremely vulnerable. I think the virus I had in March was Covid and I sheltered for the 4 months required.  However, since then I've taken two mini breaks and gone about my life as normally as possible, but masking and socially distancing etc.  For people with a genuine health worry about the vaccine I sympathise, but the Bill Gates nonsense makes my blood boil.

Stay safe everyone

Incidentally, regarding the vaccine, thereโ€™s yet another โ€œwake up people, do your researchโ€ type of video doing the rounds.  The YouTube โ€œexpertโ€ in this one shows packaging to the camera, explaining that it is packaging from the AstraZeneca Covid vaccine.  It does appear to be.

But within tbe first 5 minutes she goes wildly off-track saying something about โ€œthe evidence is right here, lookโ€ and focuses on a line the says:

ChAd0x1 [Recombinant]

She calls it โ€œChad 0 times 1โ€, draws sinister implications because she doesnโ€™t know what that means, then latches on to the [Recombinant] and starts a semi-hysterical monologue about โ€œdo your own researchโ€ and ... recombinant DNA, claiming the vaccine will change the DNA of anyone who takes it. *sigh*

So I took her advice and did my own research; using Google scholar I found an article in The Lancet that describes the test program etc.

ChAd0x1 actually = Chimpanzee-Adenoviris-vector; the method by which the vaccine is delivered to the body. [Recombinant] is ... recombinant PROTEIN, widely used in the manufacture of Biopharmaceuticals ... nothing at all to do with changing your DNA.

AstraZeneca are classing it at 90% effectiveness and Iโ€™ve seen yet more silliness with a Facebook expert this time trying to mangle the figures provided, to claim it was only tested on 94 people.

This is simply not true.  It was tested on 43.584 people certified not having previously had Covid; of which 94 later tested positive for Covid ... it wasnโ€™t only tested on those 94, they were the only ones that tested positive after vaccination. I understand that 9 of those were from the control group that wasnโ€™t vaccinated ...

Now this is NOT meant as encouragement for everybody to go get jabbed when it becomes available - that is a purely personal choice; but hopefully this may assist a little in making that decision based on preference and informed choice, not fear of a vaccine with skewed test results putting recombinant DNA into you!!

You 'sigh' after your statement about the vaccine being able to change a DNA.  But from what little knowledge I have I thought that is exactly what recombinant DNA did, recombinant DNA is when 2 different DNA are mixed together either from the same species or different ones, its called Genetic engineering. It changes the hosts DNA. Once scientists discovered this could be done it was this process that create Insulin to control Diabetes. Of course thats the up side, there I am sure  there are down sides, the thing that worries me about this new vaccine is the speed with which it has been pushed thru, the whole idea of vaccines being tested over long periods of time was to collect data from different ethnic backgrounds, and ages etc and look at the after effects 5 years down the line, i.e. did they grow 2 heads. As far as I can see this new Vaccines has very few of the safe guards from long term research.
