Hi Jenny

No you have to pre book via Uk site to get appointments in local police station in Spain ...it cost about £80 sterling for them to fill out paperwork and book you a random date ... you then fly over and arrived at appointment time and hopefully you are approved for nie number.danny Solictors charge €150 each for nie number because of time/distance to police stations.we are lucky we could get appointment in Dublin embassy and they were helpful and spoke English but it was difficult enough to obtain but the cost was only €9.65...

Danny is like an all round service ...sells apartments sells cars ...and co owns a bar in mojacar (badgers) which we visited and had a good lunch in .we also visited an apartment that he had renovated and work was top class.

We hope to get him to do kitchen and lights etc when we are finalized. My son and myself are going to get ferry from cork to Santander and drive to Illar (wife likes flying)in October with all unused items in house. We already had holidays booked elsewhere in August so we are in no rush to get illar sorted .

Regards

Hi,

Me again, I’m doing lots of reading and have been making contact with some solicitors. I wondered if anyone knew what the local tax rate of these properties is? I have been informed tax is 8% of the tax value which may be higher than the value of the property? Anyone know?

Thanks

Hi

We paid 8% - but they warn that if the property is considered to be worth more than the purchase price then they can tax you on what they think it’s worth - this heralds back to the day when a price was agreed but only part of it was declared and the rest passed under the table in cash! We had no problem with our cortijo. And there is a right of appeal if they charge you extra tax. I don’t see you having a problem as you’re buying from the bank

Thanks Anita I wonder now whether we should mortgage the place and keep our savings. We both work full time so could afford it and wouldn’t be a massive mortgage anyway. We already need to pay for a kitchen, light fittings and furniture means we would have more money for all these things and extra fees and taxes if they crop up along the way. I never knew it would be this hard.

I wonder do you know about this annual tax you are expected to pay also?

Other option mobile home what you pay is all in apart from the monthly site fees. 😀

Thanks

Jenny
