Buying property in Illar - Page 4

Hi all,

We are coming over on the 19th May to view these apartments and so excited. You have eased my worries about the management company for one and I can live with the pool being work in progress.

Can I just ask those in the process of buying though do the apartments have kitchens? The agent we are meeting says they do not however they can fit one for a cost? 

Does anyone know what the village has to offer? A shop, restaurant at all?

Hi Jenny,

We are still in the long process of purchasing apartment due to Spanish bank but as we are in no hurry it’s fine.

The apartments do not have kitchen or fitted lights or shower door/screen .

The agent we were with (Danny) also has a company that fits all for extra cost.

The village is quiet chemist at top of  road and a few shops and a few bars we had lunch and a few drinks in “bar la piscina” extremely cheap and nice setting under ivy canopy.

We ourselves are same about pool but would be eager for all residents to get together to arrange pool /management company.

Apartment are very spacious and great value for money as we have looked at many over the past year.

I can’t tell you anything about the apartments as we live in a cortijo just outside Illar - but the village itself has two bars (only one open at a time though 😂) and a shop which sells most of the day to day stuff you need - there’s also a market on a Wednesday. Alhama is only 10 minutes away and has a Dia supermarket and lots of shops etc so you’ll find you won’t need to go far yo get everything you need. Alhama also has a larger market on a Friday - hope that helps

We are also meeting Danny. Do you know how many apartments are sold/available? I think we are interested in a top floor one with a roof terrace but not sure how many we are to chose from.. Have you got Danny doing your kitchen and electric could I ask in what region the cost is?

When you're over viewing the apartments give Rab a shout and i'm sure he'll be able to give you a rough idea of prices. Just look for the fanciest roof terrace.

Solicitors can anyone recommend one to us? Danny has given us a contact but other forums suggest we should find our own and not use the agencts recommendation! 

You read so many stories of being ripped off so want to be prepared.

We used a solicitor based in Baza - he speaks English and was fantastic - his name is Victorio Heras and his number is 647460099 - he will come over here for the completion too. 

We found him on the gov.uk site

Danny was talking about ikea kitchen €1000... roughly ball park but that’s without labor.

Not sure how many apartments are left for sale but the 3 bedroom ones were still available when we were there .

Danny Solictors he recommends is very good,but make sure you have your nie number sorted as this will cost you €150 each from Solictors.

We got nie in Spanish embassy in Dublin for €9.65 and there was plenty of questions they ask you,i( would dread trying to do myself in Spain )but you have to pre book appointment if your from the Uk you probably can do the same if you are within easy distance of Spanish embassy .hope this is of some help.

Thanks Trevor, I guess that means you have not used Danny for kitchen fitting?! We are worried about having to be around for a local tradesman to do and of course the language barrier. God it’s all so hard to decide on and know what is for the best.

I forgot all about the NIE number can we just walk into a police station with the form and ID etc I don’t suppose it’s that simple 🙈
