Hi all,

My wife & I are getting very close to the point of starting our non working (NLV) visa application process for our move to Spain, lock, stock and dog!

I am told the procedure/ acceptance can take up to 3-6months, is this correct in your experience?

Just wondering if anyone has gone through the same process and if so how was it?

Also, did anyone use a visa specialist to help and would you recommend that specialist?

Any help/ advice would be appreciated

Adam & Zana

We the people ( From the US) started the process in Spanish Embassy in the US, continued in Spain. The entire in Spain brutal because we did it ourselves. NOT recommended. Get a "Gestor" once in Spain. Only they can handle the "Abuse" and it's not expensive!

Best wishes

Alicante has it all & knows  the processes. A friend of mine bought in Alicante. Her paperwork was always ahead of ours. Some cities are definitely used to expats & know to do in individual situations. Alicante is one of them .

Thank you for this info. Very useful for people wanting to move to Alicante.

Best wishes.

Just a thought….. is it now the case that you can no longer swap your UK driving licence for a Spanish one and have to take driving lessons and pass the driving test to get a Spanish licence and then be legally permitted to drive in Spain as a resident?

Nope; that is not the case.  DGT last year finalized an agreement with DVLC and you can continue to swap a UK licence for a Spanish Carnet de Conducir without needing to resit your test

Thanks Dario, always helpful.  Are there any ex Channel Islanders on this forum who have successfully managed to swap their CI licence?

You have 6 months to renew your licence .
