I can attest that SonderB is absolutely correct. The things we Irish do to treat our immigrants better! We do the same for Brits with grandparents/parents born in Ireland and wish to wear a green jersey with a shamrock crest. And if you wish to come to Ireland we have bingo in the parish hall eve...

...ry Sunday night. Oh! As nobody else will give you one, we'll do everything we can to give you an Irish Passport too whether you were never in the country and even if you can't find Ireland on a map.

Got to give it to Sonder rememebring a story from over 14 years ago.

We Irish do treat our immigrants better. The Irish goverment is  giving out passports with any ner do well who claims Irish heritage.

I would bet if they had a test similar to Spain a good majority of them would not pass.

I have met quite a few English who, when I responded Dublin, to the question ''where are you from'' actually asked me, Is that Northern or Southern Ireland? Are you a Catholic or Protestant?

I love the look on thier faces when I respond 'No I a holy Tadgh Agnostic'

One person actually asked  ''Was I happy when our soldiers where patrolling your streets keeping you safe from terrorists during the war?''

Wow way off topic now

Interesting twist to the original topic - At this moment I'm listening to Irish Radio and Kate Bush singing Bean in Éirinn* (Woman in Ireland) in the Irish language - What a fantastic rendition too? We'll have to give her an Irish  Passport asap.

*Official Title:- Mná na hEireann (Women of Ireland) - It's on Youtube and worth a listen - it's not the kind of song you'd sing in the Irish Rover Karaoke slot. [in our house the song is known as Bean in Éirinn - first words in the song].

An Irish muscian  friend of mine is looking for gigs in the local Pubs along Vera Playa/Garruacha/Mojacar. Plays Blues/Rock etc

Just wondering what it entails, now with Brexit making it harder for a muscian to make an untaxed crust;-)

What type of contract do Pubs have with their musicians.

If a Pub agreed to hire him for a night. Would he need to fill out any forms for the Taxman.

Or would he just get a brown bag slipped to him at the end of the night.

As I have no idea how this gigging business works, I am wondering if some bright spark has some insight into it all.

Back on topic

Your friend could always try busking

After all could they be any worse than the chap who murders good songs at the markets with his saxkaroke 🎷

If I had a stall there I would give him money just to make him go away.

Sorry if there are fans of his it's just my opinion makes my ears bleed just recalling having heard him one day up at the Pubelo market could hear the caterwauling as far away as the square outside the ayuntamiento

Just fill out your application form online. Then it’s up to the Irish authorities to accept or reject. Go for it! Perhaps your grandchildren will wear the emerald green?

We were in Aghada last weekend. I hadn’t known it was used as a port for seaplanes by the forerunner of the RAF. Nice Spot too!
