So we had the first meeting of the:

The Written Word Group - Almanzora Group of Friends library, In Albox.

All went well, and we had an interesting chat about writing, and agreed to meetup again on Friday the 27th January between 10am & 13:00pm. I must say Albox is a bit of a quirky town. I was dropped off, as the streets seem to be built for small men ridding very small donkeys. Afterwards I walked back to the English Gem, to get picked up and have a good lunch. There is ample parking beside the English Gem on some land, that I'm sure will one day become an apartment block. The Town Market is across the road and nearby is a restaurant called American Food. I wonder what they serve in there;-)Having walked around Albox I did begin to appreciate it. It has a sort of main street, with a fine sculpture of a man hauling a donkey cart up a mountain, off to the left before you head over the bridge. Which takes you to the newer part of town.If anybody is interested in getting involved see below.

So we had our second meeting of the The Written Word Group - Almanzora Group of Friends library, In Albox.

And again it was beautifully organized by Berni.

The Almanzora Library building is a magnificent piece of architecture, with I'm sure, an amazing back story.

But as in most Spanish buildings, built it seems to stave off the barbarian hordes, it can get quite cold inside.

We had the windows open, and the warm sun was streaming in. Which did make a difference.

Each of us had a chance to read out loud, some of the work we had taken with us.

This covered a wide range of stories from Hamlet, funny poetry, to a Ghost written life story still in progress.

We heard about exotic birds on a magical island in New Zealand, to over protective mothers, and thieves in Dodge City.

This has certainly broken the ice amongst us. And next meetup, we will hear more about each others work.

Time does fly when you're having fun. And it was fun. So anybody that wish's to join up.

Just use the information shown below.

(Albox is a quirky pleasant town and heading home we did take a side trip through Zurgena. Didn't stop, but it looks like a nice compact town. I now have a better idea on why the usual bus service, is not so good for these small isolated towns.

I can see they would for the most be traveling empty. Or just carrying one or two passengers. So they would not be a viable

business for a private company. So the cost would fall on the local people. To ensure the bus ran as a regular service, and this would be at a yearly loss. So a sort of hybrid service is needed. Dial-a-Bus perhaps. But either way it will be needed to be run as a non profit social service. I believe the bus to Albox is a once a week service?

But I'm sure it will improve.

"Hasta la victoria siempre!" as Seamus Guevara used to say;-)

So we had the 4th meetup in Albox, of The Written Word Group - Almanzora Group of Friends library. The aim of The Written Word Group, is to encourage each other to read, share and write stories. This time we heard stories of Shapeshifters in Mexico, a pair of wise cracking philosophical amoeba's, Grannies getting a change of lingerie before they are taken away to hospital, a strange story of a woman scorned, after a Will reading does not go as planned. A very grumpy man on a Blackpool tram, a cockney running dodgy packets for his boss, and a nice birthday poem for a friend.

The meetups are held in a beautiful building, that I was informed was left to the Albox Mayor, by his Mother, with the clause it had to be used as a Library.

The English Library is packed with all sorts of books and puzzles. Run by the,  Almanzora Group of Friends library, it costs the princely sum of 12 Euros a year to join. I joined up, and now have access to all the benefits of the, Almanzora Group of Friends.

As always, we are open to new people that like to write/spin stories/ tell tales.

This would have been meeting number 5 I believe. We had moved it for variation sake, to the Hostal Meson, Arboleas. It was a big room, back of the bar. And we had a very enjoyable 3 hours of back and forward discussion.

Thanks to David providing the Americanos and Aqua, we could keep going without any interruption. We went through the stuff that has inspired us. From the very upper class take downs, to a tale of hostages in Beirut. An expelled Irish student who wrote inspired Plays & Poetry, to stories of how Age affects us all along with tales of green parrots and Spanish Main Pirates chasing sunken treasure. And we had a story of love from our newly joined musician, which may end up as a summer ballad. Who knows.

As always, we are open to new people that like to write/spin stories/ tell tales.

Hola Sonder B, think I’ve managed to join this forum.

The meeting at the Meson was very enjoyable, ably assisted by a warm February sun streaming through the windows.  In truth, I’m not too sure what I’ve joined - thought it was a blog.  No doubt I’ll learn more soon enough.

The Written Word Group - Almanzora Group of Friends  May 2023

The Written Word Group - based at the Almanzora Group of Friends English Library in Albox, goes from strength to strength.

We now have our own Blog -  https://twwgroup.blogspot.com - Here you can browse through some of the latest flash fiction that has been created by the non AI, living and breathing, Written Word Wordsmiths.

Please do leave a comment, if you like or even dislike the Flash Fiction. These stories have been created to be read. So enjoy.

Each meeting, after a discussion about writing and writing techniques, a word is selected for a 500 word flash fiction piece. The first word was Music, and the next was the oddly named Hotel for Phobics.

The latest word selected is Almanzora.

So we will have to see what comes out of that. It is very interesting that one word can generate totally different stories.

As always, we are open to new people that like to write/spin stories/ tell tales.
