We’re both mid 50’s, came here looking for a lifestyle change and absolutely LOVE it.  I agree and endorse everything Rascalmate has said.

We both work - but because we want to ... my wife is a Naturopath / Yoga teacher and loves healing people (the climate is especially conducive to yoga!!) and I work part-time because I wasn’t ready to become inactive just yet ..... but the pace of life and the people make working an absolute pleasure.  It is with no hesitation I can say that the Spanish we have met have been the loveliest, warmest, friendliest most welcoming people we have ever encountered.

Spain is a completely different way of life than to that you are used to I’d suggest.  As Rascalmate says, moving here will add 5 years to your life - if not more.

Saludos, Darío

That is fabulous to hear, so many people have responded with great positive feedback, we understand life is what you make it & it certainly isn’t a trial run so Spain it is 👍 we are very excited at the new venture at this time in our lives but ready to let the fun & relaxation begin!! Thankyou for your support 👍

Hi all we are both in our late 50’s & planning early retirement, our house is up for sale as we speak ( the majority of funds from the sale will remain in the pot until we retire) we have bought a fabulous little apartment in SJDLT & can’t wait to ‘move in’. We aim to be there ASA...

...P or realistically just into the new year. We have visited SJDLT on many occasions just for short weekend breaks (governed by work holidays) & never feel ready to go back to the rat race of the uk. We enjoy the relaxed chilled way of life SJDLT offers, the Spanish people & obviously the climate & can see ourselves living there & spending valuable time together   doing things we enjoy eg cycling, walking,    visiting new places.  Many friends have said ‘go for it life’s too short’ whilst the odd one or 2 have said ‘you must be mad’ each to their own eh? Are there any ex pats out there who can give us their truthful/ honest views on moving the whole shabang to SJDLT? We both feel sure it’s for us but.   interested to hear other people’s views 🤔🤔

Hi

We purchased a property in April in Arboleas near Albox. We are hoping to be out there by November. We too are in our 50’s and will be using early pension and house sale to make our move. We are both recovering from breast cancer and prostrate cancer and like you we feel life will be better. Our house goes up for sale this week and we are under pressure just now with it all but know this is the toughest bit and soon our life will slow down. I struggle with fatigue after cancer treatments and can’t wait to do things at my own pace.  We are all doing the right thing x

This post that was quoted has been deleted.

We are indeed - I tend to work evenings more often than not, so during the day is better for me.  I’m away this weekend - how about next week, from Tuesday onwards?

I’ll pm email address / phone number

Hi Mrs B, We have spent 3 winter months in the South East of Spain for the last three years and now feel we have found an area where we want to live.  We had heard from friends that it’s all too easy to make costly mistakes regarding type and location of property, and we honestly still don’t know if we will be able to deal with the heat.  So, earlier this year we looked around and found a great cortijo to rent for at least a year and will be experiencing Spanish life, learning the language and finding out if it’s for us.  Actually, the removals van arrives tomorrow to pick up furniture and things we will need, with us driving our car down loaded up as well.  This will leave us with a liveable property in each country whilst we further pursue our dream, with the ability to go back and forth at will.  It is surprisingly easy to rent in Spain, judging by our experience.  Everyone’s different, but maybe renting somewhere first before buying would enable you in finding answers to your questions?  I do wish you lots of luck going forward!

Hi Susan, we moved to Arboleas a couple of months ago and have just settled in to the property.  Bliss!  I just needed to share with you something, having just read about your cancer experiences.  I had various health issues left over from when I stopped working (obesity, stress, high blood pressure, cancer) and have more recently researched how to support my health whilst here.  I came across two, the Mediterranean diet and much more importantly, juicing.  I’m not evangelistic about it, but please look up the Jason Vale documentary on YouTube, and watch it.  It gives info to make juices, smoothies and blends that are so good for our health and they can reverse various conditions.   The fresh food out here is superb and I’m making headway with my health already.  Good luck out here in Spain! You will love it!

Warm regards,

Chrissie

Hi Chrissie

That is great info. So glad for you.  I am so looking forward to our move and to better health for us both.  How did you find getting into the healthcare system as we will need yearly breast and prostrate cancer checks and I am on hormone treatment for ten years.  We will be moving out in December. It would be good to meet up with you out there. We are moving to limaria area Arboleas ten minutes from Albox.

Will have a look at the info on juicing. We are finding that certain oil that was on the news recently very helpful aid against cancer.

Susan

Hi, I understand your concerns, myself and my husband are both in our early 50’s and have just sold up in the uk and have purchased a place in La Alfoquia, and are just the final stages of packing and hopefully be on the move in 2-3 weeks.

Like yourselves we are moving for a better quality of life and also enjoy walking and cycling, so it would be lovely to meet up with you both and maybe plan a cycle ride in the future 😄
