Hi there,me and my partner due out on August 12th for our already pre booked holiday,as it stands we are now able to come, fingers crossed.Just wanted a bit of info on how things are over there right now? The reason we rent the same apartment every year is because we love the unspoilt spain and the empty beach and cove and the no hussle and bustle of lots of tourists. So is the area reasonably safe and whats the rules on where and when masks are needed? We want to have some clear guidelines so we know what is expected of us,any info would be great,Jan

At the moment you have to wear a face mask for every shop and supermarket.
Anywhere you can't keep 1.5 metres distance ie in towns you must wear a face mask.
Today the government are discussing whether or not to make it mandatory to wear face masks all the time inside or out even with distance. It is to be decided today. If it comes in it will be with immediate effect.
You don't need them in the beach but must wear them walking down on the board walks to the beach.
Pools that are open at complexes have times booked and use of sanitary gel etc.
Not all pools are open. Social distance is a must at all times. If you are at a restaurant, you put your mask on till you are seated or to go inside for any reason.
It is safe as long as you follow the rules.
It's come through this morning that it's masks all the time in Andalucia when you step out of your apartment from Monday 20th July. If you have an adjoining balcony or terrace you'll have to wear a mask if neighbours are around.
Rural letting is doing well this year as some Spaniards are avoiding the beach resorts! If it's any help, this part of Almeria province has had less outbreaks than the part to the west of Almeria City and of the 7 provinces in Andalucia, has had the last but one least cases.

Thank you, that helps alot.We rent an apartment with a roofop solarium, and we depend much of our time there, the complex only has 18 apartments and most are unsold,so we rarely see anyone through the whole stay.I was worried as I go for a long walk every morning and wasn't sure if I'd need a mask on for this

They cost about 90 cents each. Shove one in your pocket. If you're out and about and you see someone, put it on, otherwise going for a walk with a mask on is a bit of a chore.
On your solarium, if it's communal keep your distance and you'll be safer than anywhere else on the planet.
All in all, Palomares is ticking along. It's adjusting to the "new normal" the same as everywhere else.
Enjoy!

I posted this on another thread:
It’s now official. In Andalucia, as of midnight Tuesday 13th, the wearing of masks at all times whilst outside irrespective of distance from others is obligatory. Fines of between 100€ and 6000€ (Yes, that’s six THOUSAND) are set for non-compliance. In his speech, Presidente de la Junta de Andalucia, Juanma Moreno said “Despite the heat, difficulties and limitations, we have to get used to wearing the mask permanently”
There are no mentions of any exclusions for being on the beach or cycling or whatever - his speech consisted basically of what I have outlined above and exclusions to the wearing of masks was not mentioned at all.
Clearly whilst eating at a restaurant or drinking etc is an exclusion, but once you get up from the table, even if only to go to the toilet, a mask will be required.
