Hi all ,

Michelle and I will be arriving in Palomares on Sunday 3rd Mar to collect the keys to our new place in the sun. Does anybody know if Lidl or any other supermarkets are open on Sunday 3rd in Vera Town just so we can get stocked up .

Cheers Paul and Michelle

I believe Supermercado Vega have started opening again On Sunday mornings, but they will be the only one. Lidl, Mercadona, Consum, Día are all closed on a Sunday.

EDIT: just driven past Vega now - sorry, no - no large supermarkets open in Vera on Sunday.

You’ll be able to get basics from one of the service stations but that’s about it.

There are two stores in Ronda de las Buganvillas shopping complex, El Minuto is the larger of the two and Las Buganvillas Minimarket, They  are open EVERYDAY from around 8:30 or 9 AM until 9 at night not exact times but near enough.

Both are convience stores and carry a large selection of food stuffs and daily fresh breads. Its around a 10 minute drive from the Palomares area.

You should be able to pick up some groceries and supplies to tide you over until you can get to one of the chains and MUCH better than the Gas station choices.

As they are convience stores they are a little more pricey but not eyewateringly so.

the bouganvilla one was packed today with happy customers so one wonders why the commercial side of the area don't cash in in the holiday times.  Also why do they never advertise the events going on in the areas so you know when to go and enjoy them.

About posting events - I thought the same, but now I follow all kinds of facebook groups and pages of venues in the area and many events are posted there. Facebook seems to be the chosen means of notifying people here.

even the bar lady in La Floors said that she doesn't know what's going on unless she looks on Facebook but just seen the Tapas route advertised in Euro Weekly News for 12th to 21st of March so look forward to that and the road being finished before Easter hopefully.

I agree Alicia.  It is annoying that there's so little info about local events until after they've  actually taken  place.  Even in the Almeria papers, you're  lucky if they tell you about something the day before it happens when you've made other plans to do something else!   The townhalls all know about what is happening in their catchment area and tend to.put it on their Facebook pages, but to get a programme of the events in the province there seems to be nothing.  Maybe it's time that the Euro Weekly gives a thought about doing just that.

An afterthought for you:  there's  a Mercado Barroco in Huercal Overa (to celebrate the 500th anniversary of the town) this weekend.
