There have been posts on here about it.

The line will serve as a continuation of the Madrid–Levante high-speed rail network at Murcia, serving stations at Lorca and Vera before terminating in Almería. It will include two standard-gauge high-speed tracks for passenger trains with a maximum speed of 300 km/h (190 mph) and a parallel 1668 mm Iberian gauge track for freight.[3] The trip from Murcia to Almería is expected to take 1 hour 5 minutes,[5] and 3.5 hours to Madrid, compared to the current six hours taken using the existing Linares Baeza–Almería railway..

Completion is *projected* to be 2026.  Being Spain, you can count on that being closer to 2029 - 2030

I have been led to believe the high speed rail link will link Alicante/Alicante Airport to Almeria. Is this in the plan?

Think that will be an offshore Mathew it's main route will be Murcia, Lorca , Vera then onto Almeria 2 tracks for the high speed trains two tracks for lower speed trains goods etc .

Have been told a lot depends on the cost of travel on it and also that not that many high-speed trains will run on it and goods trains few and far between but think its a case of fingers crossed it won't impact to bad

Not sure where you’ve heard that Bobske - I have two clients who are engineers on the project - their understanding is that there will be a good high speed service

I’m thinking out loud here (and to be honest I’ve had some senior moments) but I’m trying to remember drawing(s) in one of the free newspapers of the rail link. Since then Corvera airport has been completed. Corvera is quite a distance from Murcia city as was the “old” airport.

If the new rail link is not serving Alicante and Corvera airports it will prove as useless as a handbrake in a canoe to people arriving at those airports.

I’ve learned on this forum that construction has started in the rail link station on the Garrucha side of Vera and there are quite extensive works being carried out along the line between Mojacar and Almeria which includes a long new bridge approaching Almeria city.

No doubt much of the works are being financed through EU funds so some plans must have been prepared. I’m not confident that the link will be of much benefit to those who hitherto had thought differently. I’ll keep an ear to new Holiday Homes in the Sun television series for more updates.
