I know it sounds very odd. We paid just over 400 euros a quarter when we were there. We had showers etc daily and watered the plants, topped up the pool. Paid the bill in January before we came back to Uk however, we’ve got to pay again over 400 euros for 4months and not there! using any water....

...

No leaks anywhere- not happy 😢

We had a leak but it was underground in the garden and difficult to locate. Maybe worth checking for puddles in the garden area.

Thanks will ask my brother to check after lockdown is lifted. It’s strange because when we bought the Villa last year, our solicitor said the person we bought off had a high bill 500 euros they had to pay off prior to completion however, we thought he hadn’t paid his last bill. He was from the UK and only used it for holidays. Pity we didn’t get the chance to speak to him.

Something is very wrong somewhere and looks like it has been like it for a while

Hi,

only a suggestion but we had a cistern that kept filling. All it needed was an adjustment, luckily we were there. Just a thought - hope you solve the problem ! All the best,

Marilyn

Hi, like you we had a huge bill of 330 euros, the following month one for 318 euros. I switched the water off in the house and checked the meter to find the dials still moving. I had a leak but no sign of it. Galasa stated they were not responsible for pipe work after the meter so it was my responsibility. I have concrete surfaces from the meter into my house but dug down where I guesstimated my pool filler would be attached to the main and within two feet of breaking the surface the ground was sodden, dug down to the joint and repaired it, next bill 35 euros. I would suggest as others switch off at the meter and then do the checks when you are in residence and good luck. Sadly we had to pay for nothing too as the leak was our responsibility.

This should have shown up on your survey of the property if the previous person also had problems.....so contact them for a refund!

How would any surveyor have known if there was a leak underground?  Don´t they only survey the house?

You can pay for different types of survey.....If as the person posting has said...''the person we bought from had a huge bill''....!!!!!       Would you not have asked a surveyor to look into this? On all our properties we have bought....most without a mortgage....the one thing we always insist upon is a check of the sewerage pipes, (where they are going and if we have anyone else's crossing our land/ property), and also a check of the water system/pipes.....They use a little hearing thing when all the water is switched off in the house....through which they can hear if water is still running nearby..... So yes they can check for this.....and is worth it.....
