If you only receive a basic state pension from the UK and have no Spanish pension you shouldn't have to pay tax unless you have any other source of income or wealth (including second residence). The house you live in doesn't count, only other residential properties. You are allowed to have about 50,000 pounds in total assets before you are hammered for paying tax on your state pension. Private pensions in addition to state pensions would probably bring you over the lowest threshold of 12,450 euros per annum, for which you pay 14 per cent and an income over 20,200 euros - 35,200 Euros pays up to 24 per cent.

WRONG.
UK pensions are to be frozen at end of tax year April 2023 if you are out of the country.
I think it is bloody ridiculous, yet nobody seems to realise it. It was announced in the Budget before Xmas 2019.
We already lose the winter allowance, yet it has been very cold over here, worse than in parts of the UK, yet we do not qualify.

Wait and see
I didn't think we were talking about the consequences of Brexit on pensions. It started off about whether we are taxed on our state pensions in Spain. I don't actually know if it's completely decided about pensions being frozen. It may be that it all depends on when you actually left the UK and became resident here, ie: if you came before there was any mention of the UK leaving the EU. As JTP said, we just have to wait and see.
No change there at the moment all good my U/K State Pension still arriving with the current exchange rate at should think it wont change in the future according to how many stamps you have paid up,and I do believe we will get increases every April like the U/K.

Ok....So Juanita says you can be taxed on another residence.....We are just going through the process of residentia here in Spain, but will not sell our UK home, as we may need to return in later life and have done it up to what we would need in old age....ie; lift etc. So will we be taxed on that as we will not be letting it out or making any money on it? Our daughter will use it as a base when in the area only.
Sticky one that if I was you would get a professional Lawyer/Accountant if you are going for residencia

We do have a solicitor who is going to do this for us....just getting all our 'ducks' in order.....It was just if anyone knew....
The couple in question had lived in Portugal for many years and hadn’t paid into the UK NI system so of course when they retired they didn’t have enough contributions to claim a full pension
Yes understand about stamps and U/K pension we all have different historys in our lives.
When we came to Spain we also went through process of residencia and other legal things best to do it correctly dont want any nasty surprises but in the end all of it went smoothly like you say get your ducks in order and it does work there are some lovely legal people out there.
