The Covid vaccination is the only game in town. But, we don't know what variants will strike next week never mind next month or next season. Here's the situation in RoI as I write. Anybody travelling into Ireland from or even through heavily infected countries must isolate for two weeks in a hotel and pay before arriving into the country (€1800+). It doesn't matter if you're starting your journey from such a country; even if you use an airport in that country you must still pay for two weeks in an official quarantine hotel;.
That's the boring bit. From early May it appears that people arriving into Ireland from France, Germany and Italy will have to isolate in a similar manner. The EU is raising eyebrows, but RoI is bent on applying the policy. .I can see Spain doing the same. I would hope this procedure is not for long, but (like CJ said above) it appears the restrictions will last into late 2021 at least.
So, you have your two vaccinations and you think Spain will welcome you. I would hope that you're right. But, vaccinated people can carry the virus and infect others. The vaccine roll-out is slow in every country of the EU. When do you think all of Spain will be "fully" vaccinated? I reckon only then will borders be open to foreign tourists. Sorry to bring the bad news.
Let's say Spain welcomes you in June, July, August and you come in your droves. For argument's sake let's say Spain gets added to the "Red" List while you are there. What if your mother country informs you for your return you must self isolate in a designated hotel at your own cost for no less than two weeks?
I would welcome posts from anybody with a contra view showing cogent reasons why they think Spain will open to foreign tourists in summer 2021..
