Thanks Dario, but it looks like another new boardgame for Christmas. It could be titled Brexit & Covexit.

1. This thread has gone relatively quiet in the past few days whereas this time last year suchlike threads were hopping with activity with many Spanish apartment owners advising the Coronavirus was just a short passing phase and there was more danger in the common 'flu. I missed Boris Johnson's address to the (UK) nation earlier this week. I gather he informed that "we" would all be partying from sometime in May when the whole British population would have received the vaccination. Suddenly, facebook and fora come alive with holidaymakers rubbing their hands with joy and shouting "Spain, here we come!"

2. A day later Ireland's Taoiseach addresses the Irish nation (all 5M of us) and says something like "Hey Amigos, you ain't goin' nowhere this summer, you can holiday in Ireland again." Like the UK, the Irish roll-out of the six vaccines will largely be completed in May.

Action Point 1:- If you can't calculate the difference in messages of both political leaders stop reading now and take the usual upper or downer and retreat to bed or at least somewhere that you feel safe.

Action Point 2:- Some few cases of the Brazilian variant have been discovered in Ireland and those infected are currently holed up in a supervised hotel for two weeks with no contact with anybody. One case of the Nigerian (B1525) variant has been detected and that person is also in supervised hotel isolation. 92% of the infected population in Ireland is due to the UK variant (62% more infecting than the original Coronavirus). Foreign travel is blamed for each variant being spread.

Action Point 3:- Popular Irish scientists have supported the Taoiseach advising there is no point in holidaying abroad until the entire world (yes, the entire world) is vaccinated. They added that within a few days another 20 countries would be added to Ireland's Red List. And the truth that nobody seems to want they say:- Behave responsibly and there is a chance that things will return to near normality at the end of 2021.

Depending on where you sit holidays from the UK/Ireland on the Costas are on or not on this summer. It will be interesting to see how the regional governments of Spain will react. My gut feeling is that Summer 2021 will be no different to Summer 2020. Time to put my budgie smugglers back in the wardrobe, I think!

[My Steve Ovett* Moment:- I hope I'm wrong, but as usual I'm not!].

*If you've never heard of Steve Ovett please revert to Action Point 1 above.

I caught sight of an article with Boris bleating about how the entire UK population would be fully vaccinated by July 31st ... if you actually believe that, I have some Magick faerie dust to sell you that will make all your dreams come true.

Spain is a shade slower BUT percentagewise has more of its population FULLY vaccinated than UK.  Further “delays” from AstraZeneca aren’t helping but in that respect, we appear to be using more the Pfizer / Moderna vaccine here.  I think another three have been / are being approved.

For us here in Vera, non-essential shops opened again for the first time in 4 or so weeks, and the all important % of people infected coming down.

I’m tired though Matthew, tired beyond reason. Tired of the barrage of “experts” on social-media saying the vaccines are to “control” you, that it is a “plandemic” to herald the new world order, that it’s all Bill Gates fault.  Seems there’s a new virus super-strain that spreads quicker than anything and it infects people with utter stupidity ... and Facebook et al have given people a voice.  For all the “fact checking”, there’s still an awful lot of people that think Google, Wikipedia and YouTube constitute valid “research” in it’s entirety... *sigh* and they walk among us ...

From the Times this morning- Spanish minister (Muñiz?) talking about vaccination passports.  Perhaps the budgie smugglers can come out of ones cellar, just in case?

I’m thinking a September visit may be on the cards?

Mooted on national Irish radio today:- Spain to reopen to summer tourism for  EU nationals first.

I'm not convinced that it will germinate, but the seed is sown.

I should add that Covidwise the Irish government is predicting nothing beyond 5th April 2021.

EU to meet this week regarding opening the Summer Holiday Season in June . . . . initially to members of the EU.

Explainer: Could Covid-19 certificates be our ticket to EU travel this summer? (breakingnews.ie)

Hmmmm.  Well, UK has introduced a law (as from March 29th) making it effectively illegal to go abroad on holiday, with fines of up to £5000.  Granted, this was in the Express, so ...... I’ll find the link and let you make your own minds up.

Summer 2021 is almost dead in the water - even on Easter Sunday (4th April)  it's easy to predict.
