Being Irish, we have to keep an eye on the Brits. I suppose the Brits keep an eye on the Germans and French. The more I look at Theresa May's performance as Prime Minister, the more I am losing faith in what is great about Great Britain. She failed to face down any of her ministers. She is depending on votes from a confirmed Northern Irish bigot to whom she handed the balance of power in the UK. All considered the UK is heading for a disaster. Forget the old farts on high stools in Badgers pontificating that everything in the UK will be OK after Brexit. I note none of them is returning to the UK and couldn't hold a conversation that didn't include West Ham. 

It appears there probably will be no agreement reached between the EU and UK by November. I bet Brexit will be deferred by at least two years. During those two years there will be a general election in the UK and the new government will put another referendum to the people and this time even the old farts will vote to Remain. It will be interesting to see what politicians with scruffy university type hair will do then. Theresa May is probably the weakest Prime Minister in the history of the UK and the quicker she is replaced the better it will be for Brits abroad and even at home.

Look at the glacial rise in property prices on the Costas as against what is happening to the price of property in Ireland. Our house prices are dearer now than they were in the years pre recession. Thanks a million, Boris!

I am very happy with it, location, big comfortable appartment. 

I hardly recommend NEW ONE STOP agency in Mojacar Playa. Sam Alexander is the owner, he knows what customers friendly means!

Thankyou so much for your reply and recommendation. It is really good to hear from someone who has recently purchased in the area!

We are finally visiting Mojacar this month (22nd) for the first time to view properties. We have seen a couple of apartments for sale on the 'Spirit of Mojacar' complex and will hopefully get to view one! It does look very nice and close to amenities.

If possible, can you give me an idea of the communal charges? Also, as we will only initially be using as a holiday 'lock up and leave' home, can you tell me if you have experienced any problems with security / crime in the area when you are not there? Is the complex well maintained etc?

Nice to hear, you will visit some properties, also very exciting to see them...

Every 3 months you have to pay 314,04 euro, the communal services cost.

Every month 36,34 municipal expenses. 

I have untill now no problems with crime. The complex s well maintained,  a all in gated community. So you need a key to get in the complex. Also private cards (to open the gate by the pool) needed to get in the pool.

I also rental it when I am not there, the guests were very comfortable with everything.

Many people are living there for permanent, rental, and lock up and leave also.

In the high saison there is a security gard in the night.

Hola we have been here 14 years now 12 with a holiday ho e at Lucainena de las Torres near sorbas inland . We moved out permanently 2yearsvago and bought a cortijo in Serena near Bédar we recently bought a holiday let in pueblo Laguna vera playa. Pueblo Laguna is a beautiful complex more like a little village 200 metres to the beach abc good restaurants and a short walk to garrucha . We have bought and sold through olive properties Tom and joe are superb. We always use Maria Maroto at buganvillas mundi abogados Maris Esther’s and nicoletta are wonderful would highly ecommend

Thank you for your reply and recommendations. Yes, we intend looking at Vera Playa as well and will now take a look at Pueblo Laguna to see what is available. I have already booked an appointment to see Maria Maroto as I noticed that many people have used her and been pleased with their services.

Hi Gary, 

You should be aware that some areas of Vera Playa, particularly near the Lagoon, are built on a flood plain and could be subject to flooding. There was a severe flood in the area in 2012. Look it up on Youtube. The estate agents won't tell you this.

I did actually see some flooding that someone posted a couple of months or so back, but I think that was Garrucha? Think it was near to a market.

We are going to have to be very wary in our search!
