Yes the recent flash floods was Garrucha on market day when it rained so heavy in just a few minutes that it caused some damage. But Mickey is correct in 2012 the area of Vera Playa around Pueblo Laguna and up as far as the Mexico Hotel was badly damaged by very serious flooding which apparently happened before years previously. It took a few years to get some of the properties habitable again so just be aware.

My favourite area in Mojacar is between Parque Commercial and the Irish Rover. My red line is - “on the flat”.Lots of lovely apartments but hills quite challenging. And I am a regular Walker.

Hi All

I just wanted to say a big thank you for your help and advice over the last year regarding buying in the Mojacar area. We are very happy to report that we have now purchased a lovely apartment overlooking the beautiful Mojacar Playa and are due to complete this Friday.

Everyone on this forum has been fantastic with their thoughts and advice and this has all helped to give us the confidence to take the plunge.

Happy Days & Best Wishes

Gary & Ali

I wouldn’t buy an apartment anywhere in Spain due to lack of insulation and sound proofing. Only way to narrow this down is to get a top floor end apartment and sound proof the walls that are attached. Otherwise your life will not be worth living. Having to listen to your neighbours arguments, bowel movements and TV. Biggest mistake I ever made was getting an apartment.

Well said Norma. But, if you were clued into fora such as this before you bought you would have been advised by several (including me) to live in the area for no fewer than five weeks in the off season and walk, talk, eat, drink, the immediate area in which you wished to buy.

We all know that the thickness of walls is not anything like those in the UK or Ireland. Also, we know that co-operation between near neighbours is of the essence. Buying property in Spain is easy. But, reasoning out where and why you want to live in Spain is the difficult bit.

However, thanks for your observations and your advice needs to be heeded by anybody perusing the forum.
