Hola Sandra and Jan. I've been following your comments with keen interest and would like to wish you Feliz Navidad y Nuevo Ano. I am hoping to come over to Mojacar in the next few months to have a good look around and maybe find a rental.

Best wishes

Marian

Hello Sandra, Hope you had a lovely Christmas! We went over to Turre a couple of weeks ago to see our house and the weather was 20c , so nice....👍 like me I need the sun for my bones 😚

I can’t remember if I said where we are in North West, Marple is in Stockport area. Where are you? Maybe we could meet up for coffee.

Hi 👋 I have I have been asking Alexa nearly everyday what’s the temperature in Almeria and it’s always been warm, and yes of course it’s cooler in the evenings but nowhere like it is in the UK. I know where Marple is, I used to live in North East Manchester but now live in Chorley. It would be lovely to meet for a coffee on a Saturday r Sunday at some point in the New Year as I would love hear about your moving plans etc. I will PM you with my details.

Hi Sandra,

It is probably best to rent for a few months first and then you will be able to decide if the location is right for you.

If you really want to buy a property before renting and you don't intend to buy a car, then it will be important to be in a location with a good bus service so I have given you an outline of the bus services in Mojacar below.

There is a local bus service in Mojacar that goes up and down the main road along the playa (and also to the village) every half hour between the Hotel Best Indalo in the south and Marina de la Torre in the north. These are the yellow busses. The bus then turns around at the Marina de la Torre roundabout and goes back towards the Hotel Best Indalo again. These buses stop at about 9pm for most of the year but they go all night (every hour) in July and August.

There is another bus service called the Baraza bus (white, blue and green) that also goes along the main road by the playa from the Hotel Best Indalo to Garrucha, Vera Playa and then Vera town and back every hour.

Therefore, if you live somewhere in Mojacar between the Hotel Best Indalo  and Marina de la Torre there will be 3 busses an hour (2 yellow busses and 1 Baraza bus). If you were living in Garrucha or Vera Playa there will only be the Baraza bus which is every hour.

You have to be careful because some of the other local towns near Mojacar have very poor bus services. I think that there is only one bus a day going to Villaricos, 1 or 2 a day going to Los Gallardos and Bedar and not many going to Turre either. You would probably need a car in these locations but as property in these towns is cheaper than in Mojacar Playa, you would probably be able to afford to buy both a car and a house or flat for the same price as a similar property in Mojacar Playa.

I hope this helps.

Mike

Hi Mike, many thanks for your detailed message. I stayed at the Hotel Best Indalo in May. I made good use of the bus service you refer to. Excellent service, much better and cheaper than I have where I live in the UK, not that I use it much here as I commute up and down the M6 every day 😀

I am aware that living inland like the majority of places would be cheaper but being on my own I do think being in a livelier place with amenities and good infrastructure will be more beneficial.

Thanks again and all the very best for 2020.  Sandra.

Hi Sandra, hope you  had a wonderful Christmas. I am also a single lady in my 60s. I lived on the Costa Blanca for 22 years, but have now been  back in the UK for the last 9 years due to family  commitments. I have been  going to Mojacar on holiday for the last 3 years staying at the best Pueblo indalo. I have fell in love with the area, people  are so warm and friendly. I wish to live again in Spain and the Mojacar  area would  be perfect. Please don't  think twice of moving to spain on your own. You will have a wonderful life there. I'm going again in May to have another  look round. I notice from a previous  post that you are in Chorley, I'm probably a mile down  the road  from you. I wish you a very Happy New Year. Ella

Hi Ella,

Thanks for your reply and reassurance. I stayed at The Best Indalo on the playa. Handy for busses and a lovely walk into the centre. I felt very at ease in the area and could imagine living there. As I was leaving I could see it getting busier and I am aware in peak season that the main areas and the road get extremely crowded. As long as one is aware of this stay clear I suppose, or go on holiday 😄 You have masses of experience of living in Spain. Do you have a year in mind when you will move to Spain again?

I live about 3 miles from the centre of Chorley between Shaw Hill Golf Club and Dantes Half Way House.

Happy New Year

Sandra
