Hi Sandra,

Spain is a wonderful country with so much to do. Properties inland are not only cheaper but generally larger. I live up in the mountains about an hour away from the coast, which gives me the tranquillity but never too far from entertainment. I have found the English speaking people in the villages always very helpful and kind. I decided to buy a new car when I first arrived and to give you an idea of budget, 3 bed house plus furniture and white goods together with car and all fees etc approx 80.000 euro. The roads are really good with little traffic. I find the heat on the coast too much and for too long; in my area (Chirivel) its a comfortable 25-about 30 in the summer. with if you are lucky snow at Christmas.

Good luck with the move if this is the route for you.

Paul

Hi Sandra,

Yes there quite a few pools. The best I have ever seen, which is laid out like a lake with an adjoining children's pool is at a place called Cullar, a small town on the A-90N about 20 min drive from my house. The grand children love it, no one believes the ice creams are low calories! I will send other details and pics by private message.

Warm regards,

Paul

Hi Sandra

I'm 65 and thinking about relocating to Mojacar area in the next few months. I've just returned to the UK from living in Spain for 18 months (1 hour inland from Malaga) but am wondering if I've done the right thing as already struggling with this winter weather (I'm in Kent). My friends/family tell me I'll never settle down anywhere (too much wanderlust). However, I think being nearer the coast would suit me better (where I was....very hot in the summer and very cold/wet in the winter, not really what I went out to Spain for). I'm lucky to own a small flat here which I would rent out and rent a property in Spain. The other option is to go to Spain for 3 months over the winter as I've seen properties offering this option.

Good luck and looking forward to following your journey....

Hi Sandra,

I too live in north West of England and have just bought s house in Turre(close to Mojácar) I am 60 and moving over permanently early May. I will be on my own for most of the time as my husband is still working in UK. I have met a few who have bought in our site which is New Build and there are lots of Brits. I will be looking for a part- time job after the first year and I’m settled in. Think we will be fine!

Hi Maz thanks for your message. Oh dear you are suffering already with the lovely UK weather. Like you I need sunshine and heat all year round, it lifts my spirits and will be invaluable to my health, mild arthritis already setting in, had a new hip 13 weeks ago 🤣 I Hope you get somewhere to rent PDQ. All the best.

Hi Shaz well although you won’t be moving into your property permanently  until May I do hope you and your husband will be able to perhaps have some time there before then, especially over the Winter time. Have you bought on a complex? Whereabouts in the North West are you from?

Hello Sandra,

I am moving to Mojacar on 4th January, renting a two bedroomed apartment in Mojacar Playa until 31st May.  Whilst there I will be able to look around the area and sort out any legal requirements prior to me living there permanently.  I do not want to buy a car therefore need to be in an area with good public transport.  I will contact you again when I have arrived and let you know about any problems and how I resolved them.

As an aside, does anyone know what it is like to live in Turre?  I visited there last week and loved the little square with it's cafe's and shops but wasn't too taken with the main street.  If anyone could advise me I would be grateful.

Good luck Sandra and I hope to be able to speak to you soon.

Regards,

MaureenJ
