Hi Sandra,

Well, I hope things are sorting themselves out now and you are settling in.

I made the move to Spain 9 years ago but ended up near Torrevieja. But now....I'm planning on selling up and renting in the Almeria region. I've no kids so it seems daft to chuck all my money into a house. Not sure what area I'll end up in but maybe we might end up swapping stories over a drink one day?

Anyway, good luck for 2024.

Hi and Happy New Year. I have settled in very well and have now been in Mojácar 3 years and 3  months. I hope your search for a new place to live is fruitful and of course if ever you find yourself in Mojácar let me know. All the best for 2024.

Hi Carol,  I’ve just joined this forum and come across your post.  I am a very young 70 year old (I run regularly and keep fit ) lol.  I was widowed last April and have decided to look into doing what I always wanted and moving over to Spain.  I have friends in and around Mojaca and Almeria, but wanted a single woman’s opinion on the pros and cons of moving over on your own.  Like you I will be selling my house to fund the move, but with the current visa restrictions not sure about having to live in UK and Spain for 6 months of the year for the first couple of years.  Any thoughts or advice would be most welcome.

Many thanks Barbara

Hi Barbara,

I was looking into moving over a year or so ago. I was going to go down the non-lucrative visa route and was going to rent. However, it can be quite costly if using lawyers (which I was advised to do) and most rentals are for 9 months (Sept to June) which would have meant finding somewhere to store all my stuff for 3 months and being a virtual nomad also, so I have shelved it for the moment.

Wishing you all the best

Janet
