sandra Hi Maureen, thank you for your message. How fantastic you are going to check out everything etc and renting for 5 months, this should give you a great insight. I know the bus company runs a great service so extremely handy for people who like you and I don’t want the expense of running a car. Please do keep me informed it will be great to hear how you get on. Sending you best wishes.
Sandra.

Hello Sandra

Good to read your post... and the replies

If you’ve been to the area before you’ll have a better idea of what to expect. I hadn’t been to the area when I first visited nearly ten years ago, but had been to a few other places. I rented and looked at the possibility of buying, so I got a good idea what to expect.

I joined in with a few of the areas many activities and loved it. I met many people who made me feel welcome.... as a result I stayed.
I actually met someone who I fell in love with, so at nearly seventy years old got married. We now share our lives in the area and travel both locally and throughout Spain. It a lovely country and the people are very friendly especially if you speak a few words in Spanish.

Mojácar is both hot, humid and busy most summers in July and August so be prepared. We take the opportunity to go to other areas of Spain at that time. Give it a try, but rent first, so you’ll get to know what to expect. Lots of luck

Hello Sandra yes renting could be a good option for three months or over winter to get a feel for areas on the playa if that’s where you want.

Most rentals do from October to April try Mojacar Estates they are a great rental agency my friend rents in winter and a month in May.

It’s fairly quite from the Red Cross building to the indalo hotel and you get all the playa walkway there.

The other side is different.

Hi Sandra,

How wonderful that you are considering the Mojacar region to move to, I can confirm it is a beautiful area and the scenery further inland of Mojacar in the mountains is stunning.

We have been exploring the area for the past 2 years and are currently in the process of buying a villa 30 mins inland from Mojacar near a lovely town called Albox. We have just sold our house in the UK and will be moving over to live for good early 2020. Sharon and Steve Garner from Spanish property choice first introduced us to the area and we would definitely recommend them, they also do rentals. If you are on facebook, look up Spanish property choice, Sharon garner, she's a busy lady but does reply personally. Their Mojacar office is based on the sea front near the shopping centre.

Everyone we have met on our journey over the last 2 years has been so friendly and welcoming, both English and Spanish, so being single should not be a problem at all, and I would say very safe compared to going to bars in the UK as a single person. You will soon make friends I am sure.

We cannot wait to move out there and wish you all the best

Jayne

Hi Jayne, thank you for going to the trouble of sending me a message, especially on Boxing Day. Just think next year you will be spending Christmas in your new home in Albox. I do know of Spanish Property Choice as I watched their TV show this year. I think being in my own I would be better being in Mojacar or similar town because of transport links, socialising etc. It’s really heartwarming to have received messages from people with such good things to say about the area as well as useful and sound information. I hope you have had a lovely Christmas and wishing you all the very best for 2020 in your new home.
