I've done that I'm 60 so got another 6 years to go till pension time. I decided to retire early as if I stop in uk I need 2 jobs to survive. I gave up one job last year and the other is this year. I have already got residency as I applied last year. In uk I have to pay 2200 council tax a year just to empty a bin hence 2 jobs both part time one 30 hours other 15. So I'm going to buy a house and live off proceeds from my house in Spain. Even after paying health insurance and spainish council tax still way below what I paid in uk. Just hope I can put up with the heat

Hi, sounds like you’ve made the right move. I was delayed 2 years ago due to should surgery then covid last year, hoping to get over this year from November for a few months, firstly to rent then buy a property to renovate/modernise. I’m looking at the grandfather rights rule for an Irish passport as both grandparents were from Southern Ireland. If this works I’ll apply for Spanish residency, if not just a few months per year until we go back into the eec! Be keen to know more about you’re journey over, arranging relocation, tax implications on goods bought in any advice will greatly accepted. Kind regards james

Welcome to my world Sandra.  I have been here since November, buying a place in Terreros under the exact circumstances except, I have arrived from NZ.  Best of luck with your adventure. Chip.

Hi James I’m sorry to hear about your delay. Fingers crossed re your Irish Passport and let’s hope you can travel here in November. My removals were done before the end of 2020 so nowhere near the amount of paperwork for customs etc than people have to do now. I rented for 6 months but have now bought my own Apartment on Mojacar Playa.
