Any one kinow?

We had planned to buy a villa in Mojacar to spend the winter months BUT if we can only use it for 90 days of our UK winter months it would not be worth buying. We want to spend the summers in the UK

Any suggestions anyone?

as you go in or out of the country the Border Force will check how long you have been in the country and if you have overstayed the 90 days  deal with it there.

My Daughter had just been to stay for a week and she tells us that your passport is now stamped when entering or leaving Spain, that is how it will be policed. You may fined your not allowed back in if you overstay your welcome.

The 92 days you can remain in Spain per rolling year can be further reduced by spending time in some other Schengen country e.g. France, Germany etc. It's not just policed by a stamp on your passport. When you enter/leave Spain you must pass through Passport Security Gates where your passport is read electronically. The last thing you need to see is one of those gates flashing a red light attracting attention from the Frontier Police.

You can bet your rootin' tootin' bottom dollar that it will be policed.

Sorry! - Get an Irish Passport if you can - they're being dished out like Smarties in Dublin to people who qualify.

I know quite a few who still do not adhere to the rules. Personally I would not wish to be constantly “looking over my shoulder”.

Im guessing it only takes being stopped by the Guardia and producing your passport for them to question the date of the stamps.

Anyone without residencia has their passport stamped when arriving and leaving Spain now, so no way of getting out of it.

I think there are a few who’s luck may run out sometime soon.

Mathew,

isn,t it 180 days per rolling year, but a max of 90 in any 180 day period.

James

Must be because your bars have reopened

Not necessarily per year - it’s maximum 90 days in any 180 day period.

If you want to spend six months of the winter here in Spain then your solution is to obtain residency here and go back to the U.K. for three months in summer. That’s Brexit for you I’m afraid.

The alternative is spring and autumn here with summer and winter in U.K. - a lot of people’s plans for the future have been seriously dented.
