Counting it forward like you want to do will be difficult. Where will you start your 180 days from when you go on your third and fourth  visit? Count it back from each return date. Keep taking the paracetamol 😂 enjoy your visits.

No only two visits a year but long ones I am on Co-Codamol he he

At last I think I got it . By golly he has got it I was confused with my November  March holidays but if my thoughts are correct because there is 90 days between the end of Nov hols and start of march hols it all starts again have I got this right

Yes.
It starts getting confusing when there is not that gap. say if there was 75 days in between. That is when it is easier to count back from your return date.

Can someone please help me here as I am getting more and more confused about schengen rules.

I am going to Italy on 24 September  for 1 week. I then return to the UK. On 6 October I travel to Spain for 5 days before returning home.  Does my 180 days start on 24 September on arriving in Italy or 11 October  on my return to the UK from Spain? The reason I ask is because I th...

...en travel to Spain again on 4 April 2023 for 90 days returning to Uk on 1 July.
thanks for any help

It’s easy to get yourself in a muddle but you’re correct in saying that your trip to Italy doesn’t count for you 90 days in April because more than six months have elapsed. Download the Shengen App and it works it all out for you. Enjoy. Ian

It depends where and when you have been the previous 6 months. Italy might count.

It is easy. You can spend 90 days in ANY  6 month period. So you will have spent 12-13 days in a 180 day period starting on 24 September. (You must include your departure from UK and departure from Spain as whole days. as whole days when calculating that.) So by my calculations you will have about 87 days maximum when you return next year.

Hope this helps.

I’d suggest using one of the bounce Schengen calculators - there are various ones, some free, some paid for - just google to make your choice.  You’ll need to enter all days in Schengen countries in the last few months to get an accurate assessment
