So that the passport holder who would not have access to the Schengen (ETIAS?) system has a record, also currently not all entry and exit points have access to the system so its more a transitional arrangement...

Is it worth risking it? When ETIAS goes live it’s well and truly game over for overstays anyway.

You leave Spain on 11th October. Count back 180 days from that date. In that 180 days you are only allowed to stay for 90.
Hi we use this sight, it's very good at making your time clear.

I am now extremely confused with counting back going forward sideways and even upside down , can sombedy tell me if I have worked ti's out right.
We are going over 10 Nov 22 coming back 17th Nov =7days
Then back out 6th March to 9th of May = 72 days
Am I right in thinking to calculate from the 10th Nov first day in Spain and the 10th of May 23 will be my 180 day .
Then if I wanted the 12th of May I could go back out again .
Please tell me it is a simple as this .
Thank you

From 17 November count back 180 days. How many days have you been in the zone ? Less than 90 you are good.
then count back 180 days from 9 May. How many days have you been in the zone ? Less than 90 then you are good.
The 180 days are always rolling, so count back from each time you are returning to UK

Put your dates into this calculator - it will give you a 100% correct answer. I put your dates through it and it calculated that as of 9/5/23 you would only have been in the Schengen 65 days out of the allowed 90.

Put in all your dates. Not just the ones you have mentioned in your post. The dates prior to November. I prefer to do it manually it's quicker.
