I know not directly related to this exact topic BUT all info could be helpful

I hear from my office in France that French government is looking at extending their lockdown for a further 4 weeks and a possibility all governments could end up going this direction and extending lock downs also

Also UK has largest spike in deaths to date

Stay safe everyone

I fear you may be right - Two days ago on RTVE 24 it was announced that lockdown will probably extend to at least end of April.

USA also now has overtaken China in regards number of infections

Although I am Irish, I fail to see why you feel these national updates/  rather parochial comments are  of interest on Mojacar Forum.

Anyone interested in the  fatalies can see it on any Irish news site..

Obviously anyone reading Mojacar Forum have internet access.

I just find negativity overload not helpful in these times. Especially when it is irrelevant in the main to the audience.

I am proud of the effort everyone in Mojacar is putting in . Staying indoors, following  the guidelines. I know its difficult, but what wonderful rewards when  it keeps the virus at bay.

Congratulations also to the town hall for disenfecting and stopping 2nd home arrivees bring the virus to your area!.

Best of luck, stay safe.

There will be an end to this and we can all  go out again in the community but perhaps with a ltttle more empathy and kindness having been through this together.

You are entitled to your opinion and everybody else is entitled to theirs. This is a forum where people can contribute or not contribute as they feel fit.

Covid-19 Ireland - From midnight last night (Friday) and for the next two weeks:-

Almost whole population asked to stay at home.

Public Transport confined to essential service workers e.g. healthcare etc

If necessary, exercise within 2 Kms of home.

Maintain 2 metre distance between people.

Those over 70 are be "cocooned."

People can shop for essentials.

The Taoiseach called for above to happen voluntarily, but if necessary the police may enforce measures. He refrained from using the word "Lockdown" as it has different meaning in different countries. He stressed the need to wash your hands on leaving the household and re washing of hands on entry to supermarkets and wash again on leaving the shop and wash once more on re-entering your house.

The virus is much more contagious than originally thought. A "take it for the team" mentality is being favoured. Most of the population had already been using the measures.  The good news is  figures for hospitalisation are much less than those predicted.

The situation will be reviewed and he didn't discount longer action. Somebody earlier informed me that some of my posts are "parochial" - I prefer to use worlds like "sense of community."

We live in times that are soon to be more difficult. If we lose our sense of community we might as well throw in the towel now.

Any idea when lockdown may be lifted?

The Times suggests end of May earliest here (UK)- and using some kind of tracing app.

Thing is Brittany Ferries want the rest of my payment this weefor the ferry over in mid-June!

Best to pay and reclaim when they cancel?

Of course everyone is entitled to their opinion. I was not in anyway questioning that.

My point was simply why you were sharing Irish  information to a group in Mojacar,  this seems contrary to the aims of the forum.

"The definition of community is all the people living in an area or a group or groups of people who share common interests."

So Unless has there been an explosion in the number of Irish in Mojacar we are not aware of,  these bulletins seem misdirected and show your insular stance to the wrong audience.

It would seem more courteous and relevent  to address the  issues and queries  this most helpful and informative MOJACAR forum was set up to do.

I think, probably because when he is here, Matthew resides in Mojácar, so this is his community.

For someone that has such a lot to say about Spain and in particular Mojacar I had always assumed that Matt lived permenantly in Mojacar

Hi CranCrank,

Never assume anything. Stick with facts.

Cumbres,

Congratulations on dictating what others should contribute on this forum.

In General:- I believe people are entitled to contribute whatever they wish. Last time I checked, Spain was a Democracy. Let's keep it that way.

Just an observation so no need for the abrupt response

IMHO I think it is interesting as to what other countries are doing from someone who is living it.
