Some observations:-

1. ROI has had had 9 deaths due to Covid-19 todate. All were living in the built up east of the country.

2. The medical advisors to the government have changed tack in the Testing process. Only 6% of those already tested proved positive. We have had many insisting on unnecessary tests that appear to be clogging up the system unnecessarily. It appears there will be an immediate higher percentage of those tested.

3. I don't know what is wrong in London. Once again, tonight we have seen television pictures of packed tube trains.

4. Nearly every household in ROI has received an information booklet on aspects of Covid-19.

5. Government spokespeople have advised that there are some positive outcomes to the situation.

6. A new game has sprung up where somebody (usually an apparent braindead youth) runs up to a garda (policemen) and coughs into his face and simultaneously takes a selfie. Our police have instructions to arrest such twits.

7. Boris Johnson continues to hammer his message home in the UK i.e. isolate and don't give the virus a chance.

8. I forgot to thank CranCrank for his "like" to one of my posts earlier. I'm getting a trifle worried now. If I were not in self-isolation, I would be changing my route daily from the house.  Where's James gone?

9. 405,000 people have volunteered to assist NHS.. Impressive.

Wash your hands more; Cough and Sneeze properly; Isolate as much as possible; Do not spit. Stay Safe.

I thought this idiotic behaviour would start.....(No6)...o..f course the law that was brought in for those who knowingly spread Aids to another is still in place, so I hope they use it!

It seems that Spain is now the epicentre sadly.  Stay safe out there.

"ministers say measures should start being relaxed when the month-long quarantine ends on 11 April. Yet no-one expects a return to normality"

They are a bit out of touch with that - was announced this morning on Spanish news that quarantine likely to continue to end of April.

I read a few days ago that The Law in Spain only allows extensions of ,  14 or 15 days at a time. So it will be bit by bit I suppo

Grim reading.

Spain missed the boat . . . . and if schools in the UK are not 100% closed immediately and if the Underground still continues to allow crowded trains the UK will soon be as bad.

Covid-19 news in ROI is not getting any better:-

1. Up to the end of the day before yesterday (Wednesday 25th) there were 9 deaths due to Covid-19. Yesterday alone (Thursday) the total rose to 19 after 10 more deaths. The number of confirmed infections also rose.

2. Hospital staff are having to wash and reuse Personal Protection Equipment that would normally be destroyed on one wear.

3. One of our main banks stands to gain around €2K per mortgage where the loan was frozen for 3 months for people who lost their jobs due to the virus.

Hi James,

Anybody tested positive with Covid-19 has my sympathy. I hear the Minister for Health in the UK has also tested positive.

Although I am Irish, I fail to see why you feel these national updates/  rather parochial comments are  of interest on Mojacar Forum.

Anyone interested in the  fatalies can see it on any Irish news site..

Obviously anyone reading Mojacar Forum have internet access.

I just find negativity overload not helpful in these times. Especially when it is irrelevant in the main to the audience.

I am proud of the effort everyone in Mojacar is putting in . Staying indoors, following  the guidelines. I know its difficult, but what wonderful rewards when  it keeps the virus at bay.

Congratulations also to the town hall for disenfecting and stopping 2nd home arrivees bring the virus to your area!.

Best of luck, stay safe.

There will be an end to this and we can all  go out again in the community but perhaps with a ltttle more empathy and kindness having been through this together.

I know not directly related to this exact topic BUT all info could be helpful

I hear from my office in France that French government is looking at extending their lockdown for a further 4 weeks and a possibility all governments could end up going this direction and extending lock downs also

Also UK has largest spike in deaths to date

Stay safe everyone
