Hi Carol we did took the ferry to Santander. Its quite a drive down so we stayed in Madrid to break up the trip.
When you fly Murcia or Almeria are closer than Alicante. Ryanair sometimes have a sale and it's £14.99 each way. We have taken enough clothes and left them at the house so no need for suitcases.
Yes the village can get busy in the summer as kids are left there with grandparents. They can be a bit noisy but just say hello rather than telling them off. They are just bored but they are good kids.
It always amazes me when we arrive late and there are people quietly chatting in the village square at 2am and toddlers playing as this is the coolest time in the summer.
We planned each room and loaded the van in order so as we unloaded we dumped everything in each room . We wished we had just bought the furniture as that furniture shop on Baza was one off the best I've seen. It is huge! There's a big Lidl and Mercadonia so you can buy your essentials instead of taking them.
We were interested in your house as the views from the roof terrace blew us away. We have no view! I said that I would move the table out of the kitchen to open it up and move it into the downstairs living room to make a dinning room. I would use the room off the roof terrace as my living room. Can't wait to see what you do with it.
I'm sure you will love the peace and quiet but there's plenty of places to visit if you use it as a base.
We are there on the 30th August for two weeks and am counting down the days. I would be happy to live there full time, maybe one day.
At least you won't be the only new people there as the house round the corner has also sold and so have 2 others all to Brits.
Xx
