I am sure you need a PCR test not a antigen .. I am not sure a antigen test will be accepted. In the uk. .

I am currently researching this as the wife and I are flying out this Friday for a few days to check our place after a years absence.

This is taken from the Gov web site this morning

Type of test
You must make sure that the test provider you choose can meet the standards for pre-departure testing.

The test must meet performance standards of ≥97% specificity, ≥80% sensitivity at viral loads above 100,000 copies/ml.

This could include tests such as:

  • a nucleic acid test, including a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test or derivative technologies, including loop-mediated isothermal amplification (LAMP) tests
  • an antigen test, such as a test from a lateral flow device

It’s your responsibility to ensure the test meets the minimum standards for sensitivity, specificity and viral load details. You must check with your test provider that it meets those standards.

I think after 19th if you are double jabbed they will accept lateral flow test as long as it is down by someone else.  They won’t accept the self test.

An antigen is the current requirement...we got ours done in Huercal Overa and waited onsite 15 mins max for the result and certificate.  This was end June and no issues, no changes advised in the updates that I receive from the UK government alert system 👍

Thanks, did you have to make an appointment or can you just turn up?
