You don't say if your a non resident....if your non resident and from the uk like me, you have limited choice of accounts ..I'm just in the process of buying a house and opening a bank account ..in the end have decided, after exhaustive research to go with caxia..hola account €35 per quarter charges. You can always change accounts once you have opened one.

Hi. Thank you for your reply.
I am not resident. I don’t receive state pension yet, which it can be another factor to consider.
My main concern is, I would not like to know if caxia don’t charge for receiving money from abroad.
Best regards

If you down load the terms and conditions from caixa for the hola account you will see all the rules...think off the top of my head they do charge for non euro deposits..i use a transfer currency and then its a deposit of euros.

hi. i see you have to be a resident to open a wefferent account.....damm.... does anyone know of a free or low cost current bank account for non residents? for doing direct debits for our utilities and ibi? I've been with ibercaja for over 6 years now, but their fees going up all the time, they are coming in at nearly 120 euro per year. Any recommendations much apricated.

To open a Sabadell Expansion account you don’t have to be resident - or at least you didn’t used to have to be. With 700€ a month going into the account, it’s 100% fee free. I’ve had mine since 2014 and haven’t paid even 1 céntimo in fees - that included cards.
HOWEVER, if you are planning on transferring Sterling in, you will get hit with a 20€ charge for that. The way round that is to have a free Wise account and transfer money to Wise, convert to € then transfer - fee free.

Hi I'm non resident and just about to complete on a property..opened a hola account with caixa...boy is it a nightmare..I accept 140€ to run the account but have been charged 200€ for funding the account. With euros from an exchange company I have argued for days they are in breach of sepa. Andits notin the terms..but no ...my solicitor warned me all banks will find little ways of always charging you for something ...seems its the spanish way...not transparent clear and honest....
