You will pay import tax you will need the plates changed. Head lights and speedo
That's if you are keeping it in Spain

If you didn't apply for a driving licence before the end of December 2021
You will have to take a test
Thery is in English
Test is with a Spanish driver instructor
But a driving test will take place. As I have just had my money back using a solicitor as my licence will never be just swapped for a Spanish licence unless test so got my money back. Moved back to uk now.

If i decide to drive my car over to spain when i move would i not be charged import charges etc??
Also would i have to have it changed to LHD and lights modified??. Seems strange you can drive around Europe without modyfying your car. All seems bit confusing. I know they are still in talks about being able to.just swap driving licence over which would be great as dont want to do driving test ...

I moved to Spain 3 years ago and brought my much loved Beamer. It was very expensive to matriculate onto Spanish plates, 600 for the headlights alone, and nowadays you'd have import tax as well as all the other fees and hassle. In hindsight I made a mistake and should have sold it in the UK. I would think very carefully about bringing a UK car and not just matriculation costs- remember you'll always be driving from the ' wrong' side. Yes, Spanish cars are not cheap but they do hold their value very well

That's a good choice Vera, there are a couple of buses to/from Albox to Baza and H-O but not at very convenient times and certainly none servicing the smaller towns/villages. You can buy a cheap car here under 3K plus the transfer fee on top. Property in or edge of town or a village with all amenities probably your best bet. Don't be put off!
