Hello!

i’m toying with the idea of moving the kids and me to spain. I have an irish passport and a british passport but currently live in the uk. My kids have british passports only   They are 5 and 4 currently.  We lived in Cyprus for a few years but due to divorce we moved back to the UK. We hate it here 🤣
My parents had a house in Vera spain when i was a child hence why im looking at this area again. I have a few questions and would appreciate any answers.
Where is the best place for children? How is easy is it for them to go to a spanish school?would i need to do this in advance or can i apply once I've moved?

Finding work? Is it easy to do? Im a qualified hairdresser, electrolysis technician and spmu tattoo artist. I also have a degree in politics but ive never used it 😂.
I have a list of 100million questions at-least. I know theres a million reasons not to move but ill only be renting and we travel light 😂

Thank you in advance for all info!

Oh I think right now there’s a million reasons TO move :-D

first off - kids.  At that age they’ll take to Spanish like a duck to water.  You can get them into school when you are here.  Your Irish passport gives you freedom of movement so no complicated visas for you - come here, take residence, get the kids registered as dependents of an EU citizen, job done.

With regards work, my normal response is to ask how good your Spanish is … however as a hairdresser and electrolysis technician, you may have a better chance than most - around this area though (Vera) you are going to need to learn Spanish - if only to keep up with your kids!!

Fire away your million questions - I shall do my best to answer those that I can

The children are at the best age to move over where they will make friends easily and more 'open' to learn language and there are some very good early years dual language books on Amazon

renting is the best option until you are completely happy with your new life

yes do it for your children's sake now while they are young enough to learn the language and do take the time to get your own head round it.  Mixing with the Spanish mums will be a part of school life for you.   You have 3 good job talents in there and there are English outlets that use those here.  Are you a driver?  if yes you need to exchange your licence here as soon as you are sure that you are staying.  Plenty of rentals available and that's your best option until you stay for good.  Nothing ventured nothing gained as they say.

Yes yes yes.....as someone else said...rent first.... it is so much cheaper than the UK..... a friend here in Los Gallardos sold her uk beautician studio and now is self employed here..... she does not speak Spanish!..... lots of English speaking people would use your services. As for electrolysis business...Well we are all getting older and needing that! Also as for the children, they do not need Spanish lessons at that age... children soon learn to communicate and will pick it up like ducks to water.   I do presume you mean Vera Playa, down near the sea?Vera town inland is very Spanish. Good luck.

Yes, come and rent for a while first. I would suggest that a few lessons for you and the children before you come would be helpful.

Your skills would be very much appreciated almost everywhere - we have a large English-speaking population who despair of finding a good hairdresser! Me included although I am not in your chosen area 🙁.

Go for it.
