Many thanks Dario for confirming that.

We will be coming out to VDE in December. My partner will shortly become a member of the Golf Club. He has been on the waiting list for 12 months now and is nearing the top of the list.

Kind Regards

Gwendoline

Hi Everybody

We are shortly moving out to Spain, Valle Del Este Near Vera,  on a permanent basis and were interested to read the new Spanish Health System declaration. It appears that free health will be available to all residents. Are we reading this correctly? If anybody has an understanding of this it...

... would be greatly appreciated. We will be moving from the UK. We will not be retired and working a maximum of 10 days per month in the UK and spending the rest of our time in Spain. We are renting a property on a long term basis.

Hi All

The Convenio Especiale has been cancelled all, over Spain as of the last few week. We have recently moved to Andalucia from Torrevieja where we were on the Convenio Especiale for 4 years. We are using CAT services in alfaquia who told us yesterday that we cannot transfer our Convenio Especiale to andalucia and and also that it been disbanded across Spain. They also advised us that it is only immigrants out with the EU who will be eligible to join the Healthcare System. We are at this checking to see if this is indeed correct. From our experience if someone in the healthcare system does not know you get the standard reply “you are not eligible” so in my experience keep trying. It took us 3 months to join the Convenio because of conflicting guidance from various people in the healthcare system in Alicante. If you do find out anything more please let me know as I will for the Forum. Many thanks

Many thanks and very interesting. Any updates and I will post on the forum. I have seen other forums where British expats are now having their August CE payments refunded. Surely CE will not be cancelled leaving many people now having to take out Private Health Insurance without some replacement system, as in the subject of this topic ?

Hi there

It does seam quite shocking if this is the case. It may take a few months until all information and understanding is understood. We are now in the worrying position of no healthcare at all, as when you are on the CE you cannot get an EHIC card and as we are permanently resident in Spain, cannot get one from the UK....
