Kriss,

It's much easier to adapt to driving on the right when driving a left hand drive car.

Thank you I think I’m more worried about giving way at roundabouts and which way to look.  If it’s a straight road I should be ok 😀 will definitely have a go when we go, really want to see all the lovely villages

Before I arrived here, I had never ever driven on the right, in a LHD car.  My first time was at night, arriving in Alicante and driving to Vera.  It was … exciting … for the first few kilometers, until I managed to get over the urge to go left round roundabouts :-D

But there’s really nothing to be afraid of - by and large there is much much less traffic on the roads than in UK (except in some “touristy” areas like Mojácar), but the roads from the airport(s) down to Vera are all highways - E15 / A7 and much less crowded than motorways in the UK....

...

If you are really wanting to have a good look about, I’d urge you to reconsider not wanting to drive - it’s really not that hard transitioning to LHD and it will open up your options considerably

i came here on holiday about 12 years ago as we knew we were taking early retirement at 55, i hated driving on the RHS and was terrified, BUT i have been driving for many years in the UK, i bought a new UK car and took it  over with us when we came to live, and with in a short length of time it is like second nature, although i do have a RHD UK car and THAT made it easier for me, it was the sitting on the left of the car i found out that was making  me feel uneasy , so now all is fine indeed

infact now if i do ever go back to the UK i will get taxies as it would be a reversed affect on me in the UK again

hope this helps, as you will need a car over here as the other person pointed out

Hi we would like to visit Vera in September and would like some suggestions for hotels/rental properties in the area. Also the cost of transfers from the airport and best airport to fly to.  We want to explore the various areas in the hope of buying a property in Spain when we retire.  ...

...Vera is our first area to explore.  We do not want to rent a car or drive so some recommendations for bus stops and timetables would be appreciated as well.
Thank you
