Holiday to Vera and transport

Vera has a good bus terminus just in front of the Policia Local; from there you can catch buses to all major centres as well as Garrucha / Mojácar and I believe Vera Playa.

However, without a car you will be severely restricted in areas you can look at - there’s an awful lot of reasonably priced properties available in the huge number of small villages that abound - but which are not well served by a bus service of any notable description.

May I ask why you do not wish to drive?  If you move here, you may well find that driving is a necessity rather than a luxury.

Almeria is the closest (€19.99 pp each way), then Murcia (€27.99pp each way) then Alicante (€32.99 pp each way). 

The L2 bus runs daily each hour from Vera via Garrucha to Mojacar (€1.50 pp). The L1 (yellow bus) Mojacar to Mojacar Pueblo..

Before I arrived here, I had never ever driven on the right, in a LHD car.  My first time was at night, arriving in Alicante and driving to Vera.  It was … exciting … for the first few kilometers, until I managed to get over the urge to go left round roundabouts :-D 

But there’s really nothing to be afraid of - by and large there is much much less traffic on the roads than in UK (except in some “touristy” areas like Mojácar), but the roads from the airport(s) down to Vera are all highways - E15 / A7 and much less crowded than motorways in the UK.

If you are really wanting to have a good look about, I’d urge you to reconsider not wanting to drive - it’s really not that hard transitioning to LHD and it will open up your options considerably

I find driving in Spain much easier than driving in the UK. The motorways particularly are quieter. Sat nav is a must though. Hope you give it a try x

Agreed. One thing I really look forward to is driving to our apartment in Spain after having lived in East London and Essex all of my life and putting up with horrendous traffic problems. I think the OP should go for it!!!!
