Hello everyone, I am trying to find out some information on an urbanisation in Vera pueblo. It's called edificio pawuy in calle ingeniero Jose moreno Jorge. Can anyone let me know if this area is safe or has any issues. I am very concerned as I have been told there may be squatters in this urbanisation that are dirty and dangerous! This alarms me as I am thinking of purchasing here and not sure if I should go ahead or not? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

personally we wouldn't buy in that are as it is very confined and not too clean.  We viewed a property and you could touch the neighbours from the windows the garage door was broken and the lights didn't work.   the noise from the children in the area was loud as well.   why not rent somewhere nearby and then make your mind up about buying.  what attracted you to the property in the first place?

Ended! Up around here a couple of years ago when we took a wrong turn due to road works. Didn't look very nice, run down and scruffy. Hope this reply doesn't offend.

Curious to know if you bought in the end as I came across property there and wonder about the area too.

Thanks in advance for any info.

Hi fifi

In September 2020 I managed to get over to Vera and look at the apartment in the urbanisation. And yes I did buy it. Whilst there were squatters or illegals as they are called I spoke with an English resident who lives there and she advised me that they would soon be moved on as this had been an on going issue for a few years. She put my mind at rest and she is now keeping me updated on the eviction of those who should not be there. She is also keeping an eye on my flat until I can get back over there, which is very reassuring. Since buying in October many evictions have taken place and the general opinion is that things are on the up. The illegals were occupying those flats which were bank repossessions so had been empty for some time. I was informed that they were mainly families. They did not treat the urbanisation with  respect so things like the pool were shut however they are slowly getting moved on so things should be back to normal soon. So yes with everything considered like I said earlier I did purchase the property. It was, in my opinion, very much worth the money and probably a bargain price because of the situation but that is likely to soon be resolved and things can get back to normal. The centre of Vera Pueblo I thought was very nice and looked clean and tidy. I hope this helps

Thank you so much Sally for taking the time to reply so comprehensively to my post.

And yes it really does help to have honest feedback from someone who has some on the ground experience.

I will bear this in mind when I eventually get down to view a number of properties the area.

It is very difficult to judge from afar, so I have only been able to do some online research.

Needless to say nothing compares to actually being in the location.

I wish you many happy times in your new flat.

You are more than welcome!

I can honestly say that if I had just looked online and heard about the negatives and taken people's opinions on this forum I would definitely not of purchased.

But luckily I got the opportunity to go over for a brief 3 day stay to see for myself the area. Something I think is best to do if you have the opportunity as you can get a feel of the place and surrounding areas, towns, beaches etc. As well as chatting with the lovely lady who is keeping an eye on my flat I went with my gut feeling of yes this is OK and in time things will hopefully be better and for the money I am paying, it's a good deal. I wasn't mega blown away but I certainly didn't get any red flags which made it a definite no go.

I wasn't in the financial position to be mega picky as my budget was limited and I did not want a mortgage on the property.

It's my first step on the property ladder in Spain and in my personal opinion a good one. But I guess only time will tell. I'm in this for the long run and not looking to make a quick profit and therefore happy to put up with and try and work through any teething problems that may arise, I know it's not going to be all plain sailing. But I feel if we can get through the last year and a half which has been horrendous we can get through anything!

Good luck with your search and hope you find your perfect place.
