This is a fairly old image so the route may have changed slightly, but it will give you a rough idea.

We purchased in Los Lobos and the railway route was one of things I was looking in to, but there was very limited information about it.

The U.K. will be back in the Eu before this train line is operational. 😂😂😂

It will never happen because the U.K. is now out of Europe, the cash cow has left the EU.

What a strange reaction, well the EU can do without the UK as one united Europe you will be surprised what we can do

To Try and Answer Your Questions:-

1. Some years ago all the free newspapers had maps of the new railway route. Even the railway station at Vera was marked. It's a high speed train with as little staff as possible on the train and at railway stations.

2. Whatever roads were accessible near the new railway line we drove just to get a hold on the actual route and how long it would take to hire a taxi at the new railway station in Vera to Mojacar Playa. We were upbeat bearing in mind an estate agent informed us that the line would carry its first trains in 2007. The course of several roads near Turré/LosGallardos were changed to facilitate the new railway.

3. I would say the main real estate agents around Vera, Garrucha, Mojacar would have route maps of the new rail line. Don't discount that there may be minor changes since it was first issued. No sort of planning in the area remains the same at the end of the process as it did at the start. But, I'm looking forward to the line operating (earliest 2023 and probably nearer 2030).

4. Another concern especially for those in Mojacar Playa is the route of the new road which will cut through parts of Mojacar Playa.

Hi sorry for jumping in on this topic but just saw your comment about new road in Mojacar playa..I am looking at purchasing a property in that area...any advice if an area I should avoid if a new road is being built?

many thanks

Hi Maj,

I don't know the route of this new bypass road for Mojacar Playa. I can remember the route on a map in one of the free newspapers perhaps two years ago. But, I remember the route was through La Paratá. With the price of property there you can bet your bottom dollar that many in that area will be objecting and screaming for re-routing of the road.

But, when the road is completed I expect it will help the price of property in the general Mojacar area to increase. The road will come, of that there is no doubt.

You're on the ball though, Madge. You're the only person who commented on my mention of the new road. I'm not in Mojacar at the moment because of Covid-19 but if you source any information please share here.

I think you made a mistake Doris. The UK will be without Scotland before the rail line opens.

I read early last year that the contracts had been awarded to complete the track from Sorbas to aviator. Any local news??

A relevant piece of news for this discussion in the papers today: https://www.lavozdealmeria.com/noticia/12/almeria/208506/abalos-almeria-estara-conectada-al-ave-en-un-futuro-cercano

The most striking thing here for me is that there is absolutely no commitment to dates, just a vague reference to "the near future".

With the amount of national debt that Covid 19 has and will cause, I don't think that many governments could be blamed for putting other priorities first.

Having said that, a stretch of the Corredor Mediterraneo was inaugurated only yesterday between Alicante and Orihuela.  It was mentioned on the TV News was that further phases to complete on the agenda are  Murcia -  Lorca - Almeria, but no completion date was mentioned.
